This place gets the basics right. Bread, sausage rolls, and plain things like jam donuts, or a Leslie Renee. I'm sure the sandwich, and breakfast items are great.

But why 3 stars? Well, as great as the basics are they have some problems. Large, flavourless donuts (not the plain jam one, or sugared rings, those are excellent. Also, I imagine the iced ones are fine, too. I just dislike iced donuts) where they all taste of the base filling and little else. All of the cakes look incredible, but are almost always too heavy and stodgy. I've actually bought stuff on occasion for family and where they've found this to be true, they've just thrown it away. It's not uncommon, so I've given up on the things that look nice in the counter. The croissants I gave up on, as too often a molten base of butter/dough etc. so better off actually buying one from Lidl's counter.

Anyway, I like the place (for the basics), but it's clear the aesthetics of their treats outstrips the delicacy's...

I was a bit disappointed with my latest visit. This was more about the service than the food. I regularly visit here to buy sourdough, just like many other people do. I chose my loaf and asked to have it cut, which is one of the reasons I buy it from here (and the fact that it's the best sourdough you can buy). The person serving sanitised their hand before touching my loaf and handed it to another member of staff who was cutting the bread. Visited this artisan bakery today and spoke to a young lady by the name of Hermione, I was holding a gift voucher to the value of £25 which I won several months ago, and (to be honest) I thought it was out of date.
