Riverside Inn Bournemouth — Restaurant in England

Recommended to me following it's refurb ... We visited for Sunday lunch & we're very glad we did ... nice location, plenty of seating, not crowded or cramped, nice decor & great value for money. We had, Chicken Roast, Cheese & Bacon Burger (Gluten free 👍🏼😀) & Cod & Chips ... all 3 meals were delicious!😁 They certainly don't skimp on portions, the roast consists of half a chicken ...wow! 😋 Our waitress, Sophie, was extremely friendly and attentive. She ensured the gluten free options were correctly ordered & spoke with the Chef to confirm ... Chef then took time to come, in person, and assure us meal orders took into account our allergen concerns. "Thank you both for your kind attention". One tiny issue - side order of broccoli was too salty. Dealt with perfectly - no charge & offered a replacement. We declined replacement but were impressed we didn't have to barter for no charge - "thank you Riverside." They certainly know what good food and good customer service is! We look forward to returning again for the Sunday menu, but also on another day to try out the different menu(s). Would happily recommend without hesitation. ... Returned twice since our first visit. The first experience was certainly not a one off - the staff, service and food have all been top notch on each visit. I had special dietary restrictions on our 2nd visit, Sun 18/11, (prior to surgery the next morning). Our waiter, Jamie, and the Chef organised a meal taking all into account - it was delicious! I went as a part of a big party of a dozen people and they were very accommodating. The restaurant itself and interior is very nice. The bar is very fancy looking and the restaurant beyond it is quite cozy and inviting. Plus the outside seating is very nice as well, multiple levels of decking and seating overlooking the river, would be very nice to sit outside and have a drink in the evening.

The staff were all very friendly and accommodating to our large group, especially our waitress Sally, she was friendly and helpful when it came to getting everybody's food to the right person. Speed of service was good as well, especially considering how many of us there were.

Food was all very nice as well, out of the dozen of us eating, everybody was very happy with what they got. I was happy to be given the names of the chefs that handled our food, Carter and Scott who both did a great job with everything. The steak I had was very nicely done and everybody else really enjoyed what they ordered.

Overall a very good night there for my group and a great place to visit, I would highly recommend it. My only criticism would be that the prices of what is on offer is more on the expensive side but that's no fault of the restaurant and it does seem...

I regret to say that our recent experience at The Riverside was far from satisfactory. We had booked a table for 8:30 PM, anticipating a delightful outdoor dining experience on what was a surprisingly pleasant evening. However, our expectations were quickly shattered.

When we arrived, a staff member initially welcomed us, but was soon interrupted by a colleague emerging from the kitchen. The ensuing whispered conversation left a sour taste even before we could order our food. It seemed unprofessional, and it wasn't long before we discovered the topic of their discussion.

We were informed, rather abruptly, that they were not serving food outdoors due to being low on supplies. The outdoor dining experience was one of the main reasons we had chosen The Riverside, and the lack of forethought on their part was disconcerting. Moreover, the implication that serving us outside would be inappropriate for other outdoor diners was puzzling and unacceptable.

Overall, our visit to The Riverside was a letdown. It was marked by unprofessional behavior, poor planning, and an overall disregard for customer satisfaction. I believe the management should take these issues seriously, and hopefully, they can make improvements to avoid such situations...
