⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ We had the most wonderful lunch at Born Appetite in Dunster! We discovered this hidden gem while we were looking for parking to get to Dunster Castle. We went in and we ordered the lechon kawali, Filipino beefsteak, sisig, and breaded chicken with curry sauce — every dish was packed with authentic flavour and brought us right back to the Philippines. It honestly felt like we were dining in someone’s home rather than a restaurant.
Mia was incredibly accommodating and made us feel so welcome. The hospitality was amazing — warm, genuine, and full of heart.
The portions were very generous — we’ve got big appetites and still almost couldn’t finish it all! The price was absolutely worth it for the quality and serving size.
I had a cup of kape barako (so rich and bold!) and we were treated to a tasting of their in-house gin from their own distillery — absolutely lovely. We couldn’t leave without buying one obviously. It was too good!
Highly recommend this hidden gem, and I’ll definitely be coming back whenever I’m in...

When I gave this feedback when I paid, the woman said "thank you". Perhaps she hadn't heard me correctly or her understanding of English was limited, so I clarified by saying that it wasn't a compliment but, I suppose, a complaint. To which she again said thank you - and gave me a business card and said I could leave my comment on their website!
I should have noticed the warning signs after we entered: *cakes covered rather untidyly with clingfilm rather than proper covers stale cooking odours permeating the cafe (it doubles as an Asian food restaurant) a bit grubby in parts, with some cobwebs
There are certainly better cafés...
Read moreWhat a lovely surprise! We thought we were walking in to a "normal" tea rooms. The food here was exciting and refreshing. They offer traditional food on one hand and amazingly fresh and tasty Asian cuisine on the other . I ordered mixed dumpling salad which was so tasty. I also ordered a house special hot chocolate with a shot of local rum. Also delicious. Definitely worth the drive for us for a re visit. The staff were also lovey and helpful, letting us sample the local drinks and telling us how they are made. The toilet was also hilarious and clean. Can't wait to try something else from the menu when...
