We were so pleased to return to the Bucks Head after many years of absence. Sunday lunch was very good. Roast pork belly was perfect as was the rich gravy that accompanied it. My dining guest's roast beef was a little underdone for her taste but I happily finished off the rarer parts and these were perfectly done for me. So pleased we have another venue serving good, hearty food in the town again. We will return in the near future.

Waited over an hour for overpriced tasteless food. Steak was impossible to cut, even the dog wasn't sure of it. Ordered a veg tart for my vegan/veggie partner and the cheese wasn't listed on the menu. Radio station played overhead with ads Included ruined the meal. £4 for 2 bits of garlic break was the line really. Fine for pub grub but way over priced.

Me and my wife popped in for early dinner after a nice day's walking around the long mynd and rectory wood and we were treated to a warm welcome from the lady behind the bar. We had a great meal and was very reasonably priced for the portions. Staff were very attentive. A great place to visit

We visited today for lunch. We hadn’t booked but easily found a table for four of us, although it got quite a lot busier as time went on.

We perused the extensive and interesting menu and chose four different dishes: chicken souvlaki, stuffed beef and lamb kofta (both served with chips, salad, pitta and tzatziki), chicken curry served with rice and poppadom and finally a sizzler dish of duck breast which came with a choice of sauce (we had plum), peppers, onions, and a choice of either fries, chips or rice and salad.

All dishes were served piping hot, were fresh, delicious and plentiful. The Greek dishes were authentic so I assume the owners and/or chef are Greek as it was really very good.

Everyone really enjoyed everything served not only to them but each other as we are a family who like to try each others!

We had no space for dessert, sadly but they looked pretty good too.

Our friendly server checked on us to make sure everything was good both during our meal and afterwards; which I always appreciate - fortunately everything was perfect but I always like the opportunity to raise any concerns.

Our food bill with drinks came to roughly £70 which was very reasonable given the quantity and quality of the food.

They do serve cheaper/lighter options too as well as sandwiches, baguettes etc.

I popped outside to the garden to vape after our meal and was pleasantly surprised to see they have patio heaters to keep you toasty warm if you sit outside on the chillier days.

I would not hesitate to return and am happy to recommend this establishment.

Final note: My mother uses a rollator walker and was able to negotiate the steps in without too much difficulty; however I would suggest wheelchair users should check for accessibility as ramps...

Came for a birthday meal last night. Staff were about 16 and didn't have a clue about service. Food was so inedible I wouldn't have fed it to my dog which is strange as the reviews were so good. I had the baby back ribs and the meat was a dark brown colour and tasted foul. Not only that my chips were sat in an inch of oil making the whole meal a write off. Definitely came out of a microwave packet and not worth Ā£10 let alone Ā£16. My partner had the hunters chicken and again it was just microwaved rubbish and the chicken was like rubber. No one came over to check how the food was. In my past ten years of chefing I have never come across food this bad. No one asked how it was when we got up to go and pay either, just rudely took our money while another girl serving a customer was on about her boyfriend cheating on her and her and her friend threatening them and the locals asking her to go on a head hunt with them. Classy place, you can see why I didn't want to kick up a fuss as I fancied leaving with my teeth intact šŸ‘. Definitely not a neurodiverse friendly establishment and if the owner or manager wants to discuss this today I am in the area until Sunday. We still paid as it was only fair and I didn't want to get into confrontation with the chef on my birthday as I was so angry about the service and food provided it would have only gone one way. If you wanted to waste Ā£40 on two meals and two drinks with food you wouldn't feed a starving dog definitely...

We had a really rubbish experience and wouldn’t want the same to happen to other people! We were a table of six at Saturday lunchtime so very aware it’s a busy time and we were a larger table so when we ordered and were told food would take half an hour we were fine without. Once it got over half an hour we ordered some coffees. They were awful! If you can only make instant coffee just say. We had flat whites and lattes and they were just instant coffee with a bit of cold froth on.

We asked how long our food would be after a 40 minute wait and were told it was coming out next. We waited another 10 minutes and asked again and she said the bar lady went into the kitchen and said it would be 15 minutes (even though we were just told it was coming!) and at that point we did not wait to wait anymore, we wanted to get on with the day and did not appreciate being lied to. When we went to the bar to just pay for the drinks we were told actually the kitchen hadn’t started making our food yet!!!???

Again we appreciate Saturday lunchtime being busy (there were a lot of empty tables though throughout the time we were there?) and if they are short staffed too but do not lie. There was no communication other than when we went up to ask, had the communication been good meaning we knew exactly what was going on we would have been understanding and probably stayed. There was no apology either just excuses. There is never a good enough...
