The place has some lovely decorations and waiting stuff are friendly. However this is the worst dining experience I’ve ever had in my life.
Menu is not well described. There’s “mixed bruschetta” on menu and when asked the waiter, got the answer of “ham and bit of everything; 2-3 portions; don’t really know what’s in it”. Later on got the dish, four portions including ham, vege, traditional and seafood, and the seafood one has raw salmon on it. No allergy information was asked when ordering, and didn’t mention anything about raw seafood.
My main course is white wine mussels, had to send it back because of the strong unpleasant fishy smell of the dish. Even my partner sitting across can smell it. So I sent it back, saying “maybe it’s a bit off or something?” And asked them to smell it too. Then an Italian guy came out with a pot of raw unprocessed mussels, and cut it open in front of me??? I said I’m not questioning how fresh your mussels are but just if you can smell the dish yourself. I don’t know what’s with the dude but it seems he won’t take no for an answer. When my partner tried to explain to him politely, he’s not interested at all, just walked away. Even the girl knows hospitality better than him, because she apologised and took the food back immediately. If the dude owns this restaurant then I feel sorry for him for living in his own little bubble.
Thanks for ruining my dinner, and good luck with...
Read moreI am very fussy and rarely review,
Notice there's no photos of the seafood and I honestly think it's better than their pizza!
Each seafood starter was around £15, apple juice was around £2-£3 , potato skins were just a bite of my friends order & part of a early bird deal
Delicious but expensive seafood, I got both calamari & huge butterflied prawns which were both lovely but small portions even for seafood standards. Both came with a salad I didn't enjoy but that's cos I personally dislike most salad leaves that aren't just boring green lettuce or peashoots. The calamari comes with fried spaghetti which is a lovely unusual crunchy salty treat
Lots of garlic & lemons with the prawns
Okay potato skins, kinda more like a jacket potato than the crispier ones Ive has elsewhere. purely personal preference but I like crispy instead
Apple juice is very noticably bottom rung cheap stuff but I think...
Read moreWent in today for some takeaway food, so glad we did, it tasted so nice. Not like some "Italian" restaurants where you could make better at home, this guy knows what he is doing, and it tastes so authentic too. Rarely tasted food like it outside of Italy before. Even the courtyard around the back has that Italian feel, I bet its amazing on a summers day sat out.
If you expect over the top pizza toppings etc. Which destroy the pizza then you don't understand Italian food.
Owner even lent us 2 forks which he was prepared to loose, as we were at hexam hospital for an appointment. Needless to say we returned them after our meal.
Just go here, it is a true Italian dining experience even if it is takeaway. When lock down is over we will be...
