Not great, but not awful. I have been to other Lounges and we were keen to try this one as it was local; it didn't compare. It looks pretty much the same, but from the outset it was lacking the atmosphere. On entering we couldn't tell who was working there. The staff seemed to be aimlessly wandering around, they seemed lovely, but like they were lacking direction or maybe training as it's new.
We were taken to our seat, everything was very clean. The QR ordering wasn't working so unsure if that flustered staff who didn't seem to know the menu.
Our food came and my wife loved her buttermilk fried chicken. All of the fries were pure grease though and weren't eaten, no taste. My eldest got a fish finger sandwich which was standard. My youngest had chicken strips and enjoyed them. I got a halloumi burger as I generally do at a Lounges in Wells (Fosso) I have never been so underwhelmed, it lacked the chilli jam, too much hummus, the halloumi tasted of grease and the outside barely cooked. Desert wasn't much better, my daughters churos were under cooked, half had so much cinnamon on they looked burnt and the others had none, there was no sugar on them so lacked taste of any kind. My wife had sticky toffee pudding that was dry and only had a drizzle of sauce.
Overall, I rarely think it, but we should have just ate at home. I did feel for the staff who looked out of their depth. I will try it again at some point as hopefully the kinks will...
Read moreI really like the Lounge chain but the food is getting a bit boring/samey now. I also dislike dogs being allowed in- I understand their stance of allowing "well behaved dogs" but on our visit the dog at the next table went mad whenever another dog came in. Our youngest was bitten by a dog when she was younger and is usually happy to be around the but this occasion really upset her.
The food was just okay on this visit. For some reason one child's main and dessert came ages after the other two children's and ours- it wasn't amended or anything, so not sure what happened (when I asked, the server just said it was coming).
Husband usually orders tapas and was disappointed that chicken wings have been removed from the menu.
My diet coke was unfortunately flat- I was/am struggling with a lot of pain in my right wrist at the moment so didn't have the energy to complain, although I know I should have.
Dessert saved the day- the chocolate and raspberry tart is always a winner for me, and the girls loved the newly added trifle.
In conclusion, it's not a bad place, and the food is nice- just not amazing. There are lots of nicer places in Hexham to eat, we were just feeling lazy and knew there'd be something each of our kids would...
Read moreWhat a fantastic addition to Hexham's suite of eateries! I first went with my brother, not long after it opened, and loved the relaxing ambience and the friendly, helpful staff. It was a real haven for us as we were dealing with a traumatic family matter. Returning with my wife in September, we found it, if anything, improved from our last visit. The food was excellent, with a wide variety of dishes and snacks catering to all tastes. Staff were careful to ask about any allergies when taking our order. The staff were uniformly superb. Some of the best service I have encountered anywhere. The decor is tasteful and stylish. There are a variety of seating options from standard tables and chairs to comfy armchairs. We visited on Sunday afternoon and Monday morning. It was doing a brisk service on both occasions, so it is obviously deservedly popular, but we never had to wait over-long for our order. Despite being busy, the Muro Lounge is large enough to accommodate while managing to maintain an air of intimacy. The Muro Lounge is the sort of place you can pop into for coffee and a snack during the day, then meet friends for a meal and a drink in...
