I had been out with my walking group and we finished our walk in Hexham. Which is a town in Northumberland, the forum is the name for the Wetherspoons pub in Hexham.

We got to Hexham about 2.45 and our bus was not leaving till 5.00. My walking group has a contract with a coach company called Rowell coaches, who pick us up in Newcastle and take us off to wherever we want to go. Then they pick us up at the end of the day and drop us off back in Newcastle.

Anyway now I've set the scene TODAY'S WALK!!!!!!! We set off on a perfect winter's morning, with a hard frost crunching beneath our feet. No not a hard Brexit!!!!! (Well not yet anyway).Definitely a frost. During our lunch break we see a female deer (a doe) running around in a field just next to where we were having our lunch.

Although I am not sure exactly what kind of deer she was (I did not get a chance to ask her). After lunch we find ourselves on a very muddy path, well it is winter I suppose.

Towards the end of the walk the mud was not a problem the incredibly waterlogged field was though. Although I have decided since then every bog has a silver lining well this one did anyway as it cleaned the mud off our boots.

By the time I got to the pub I only had time for 1 drink but I sat with some of the people I had been walking with. A very nice pub I have been there a few times before I must admit...

We all know that Wetherspoons are cheap and cheerful establishments. However, in my experience this often translates into rowdy, abysmal food and undesirable clientele. This branch is absolutely lovely. I remember when it was a cinema years ago and the pub retains all the Art Deco style of years gone by. I went on a Tuesday lunchtime so it was quiet. The bar area is ground level, with a large seating area down some grand art stairs. Overall, it and was very clean and tidy. Found a booth easily and ordered via the app, though I noticed most people ordering at the bar. The staff were very friendly and our drinks were brought over within 5 minutes of ordering. Just ten minutes later, the food came out and the young lad who brought it came back a few minutes later to see if everything was ok. Nicest steak I’ve had in a long time and at just £10 for a steak dinner with a drink is an epic price. My other half really enjoyed his fish and chips too. The toilets were ‘bog’ standard but clean. Overall a good experience and I’ll be sure to go back the next time...

Haven't been here for a while, and there is a reason. Don't be taken in by the decor, and "lovely old cinema' reviews. No, this pub isn't the cleanest for eating. Tables are filthy and don't get cleaned enough. The food leaves a lot to be desired despite prices going up. The toilets weren't a good experience. Down very steep steps. NO DISABLED ACCESS downstairs. Those with mobility issues have to use cinema toilets next door. Oh yes, the ambience.. If you want a quiet drink, never come here! Friday and Saturday nights can be worse and late at night. It's rough as a badger! Can be rowdy and gangs of youths and chavs shouting whilst drunk. I've heard some punters acting and sounding like wild animals. A horrible experience. The language used and conversation you over hear from some of the younger ones is very inappropriate.. Don't fetch a family here! Hexham has friendlier and more welcoming establishments. Too rowdy and too full of drunken behaviour with NO DOOR...

Well what can I say Tim, Hexham SPINS is probably the dirtiest I've ever had the displeasure to visit. The gents toilet smells like a uncleaned public toilet the end bar area was piled high with dirty glasses, the coffee machines sorry the one coffee ☕️ machine that was actually working run out of milk 🥛 😳 whilst the other was out of order 😳 😬. 10 minutes passed before it was replenished with milk. Oh and by the way Tim not all Scottish £10/£20 bank notes are forgeries just like not all English £10/£20 bank notes aren't forgeries. Now given that your SPINS pubs in Scotland take Scottish £10/£20 notes and English £10/£20 don't you think 🤔 it's a bit rich that you discriminate against our currency SOUTH of the Border yet NORTH of the Border you don't discriminate against English bank notes 🙄 😉 🤔 😜. Given that my Scottish currency isn't welcome in your English pubs as from now my Scottish currency will be boycotting your Scottish pubs from now on 🙄🙄😬😬😬😜😜😜
