Caffe Ginevra South Beach — Restaurant in England

First time visiting this cafe. Was greeted by a less than enthusiastic staff member who informed us we could only have our drinks in take away cups due to the fact they were closing in 30 minutes. We ordered two hot drinks and two sweet treats. She asked where we would be sitting (the cafe was almost empty save two tables of people). I pointed to a table and said we'd sit there. She replied "it's only this side". I noticed they had cordoned off one side of the cafe. She rolled her eyes and told me she'd bring our order over. When we sat down, I realised then that the tables were numbered. This may have been the reason for the eye rolling but as there were only two other tables occupied, this shouldn't have been a problem. When our drinks were brought over they were as described in take away cups, that's fine. However, the cupcake and caramel shortbread were presented to us in brown paper bags. No napkins no plates. The occupants of the two other tables were using crockery at this time. While we were sat Inoticed the staff member dipping into the icecream counter with a teaspoon to help herself. When the other two tables vacated, the staff were quickly out moving and cleaning tables and chairs beside us. We felt unwelcome and uncomfortable the whole time. As well as the fact that the cupcake had no flavour and the caramel shortbread was dry as sticks. Certainly will not go back. First and last...

Excellent coffee, pleasant, relaxed ambience and a good location for the beach. Definitely not a fast in and out joint but that is no bad thing. We have been here quite often since it opened a couple of weeks ago so we have seen the operation settle into a routine. Unfortunately that routine seems to need a bit of a tweak. We called in again this afternoon when it was not particularly busy with about eight tables occupied but with a further five vacant tables still carrying the detritus from previous occupants. As with every previous visit, the staff on duty seemed to be focused purely on getting the goods out but neglecting to clear the dirty crockery on the way back. This is not a good look. I don't want to second guess the owner but either more staff or simply more staff training could be the answer. (If the answer is more staff training, perhaps smiling could be added to the curriculum?) Overall a great addition to the locality but please pay more attention to the image you are projecting.

We called in again today (a week after the original review). The first four unoccupied tables as we came in the door were in dire need of a clean-up. That was enough - very disappointed to see such a promising venue let down by basics; we won't...

I don't like leaving reviews but wen your staff refuse to make something fresh and try selling me chicken roll wats been left out unwrapped aswell it's not good is it you had 4 to 6 staff wat said its only wats out we sell ...and refused to make anything fresh ... now surley anyone anyware else makes fresh food it's such a shame really is as you have a lovely location and we have came in couple times a week for years now ...but we felt totally insulted today 18th Sept 2025 time 1530 pm ..and the m Young man with glasses fort it was funny ..that someone was request in fresh food ..now are we not paying for it so should be able to ask for a fresh sandwich...untill this is answered satisfactory you've lost adult an 3 children twice a week sometimes 3 times a week that's £75 to £85 a week its just insane that you try serving food watts been left...
