I decided to treat my wheelchair bound Mam to Fish and Chips today. I particularly picked this 'restraunt' because of its position next to a large flat carpark. Imagine my annoyance when the door had a ridge which meant I was unable to easily enter this establishment with a wheelchair. It was a follow customer who had to help me get my Mam through the door not a.member of staff.
One inside the staff were friendly and treated my Mam with respect
Reviewing the menu I was concerned that there was no pensioner option on the menu. My Mam does not eat much these days and a full Fish and Chips would have been too much for her. The server said the only option was to order off the kids menu. All my Mam wanted was a small portion of fish and chips. She was forced to order fish bites and chips. However she wanted a cup of tea No sorry the kiddies menu only comes with orange or raspberry juice. So I was forced to watch my 84 year old Mam trying to force a straw into a juice box. I had to give her a hand which I think she was embarrassed about. As my Mam's grip is not good, before we knew it the juice box ended up on the floor.
I ordered the fish and chips special for £15.75 I think it was. The deal came with a drink, I opted for cola and a bread bun. There was a choice of peas, baked beans and a few other options however all I wanted was my fish and chips. I asked for no sides but the server said this was not allowed as the special came with a choice of sides. What a waste of food I was forced to allow then to serve a side knowing it would go straight in the bin when I left.
Once we ordered I was somewhat surprised as the server hovered and asked me how I wanted to pay I guess I am so used to eating establishments trusting you not to ' eat and run' I was a little taken aback
The cola was OK, not large not small I'd say about 400ml. However the bun was tiny, maybe 5cm across.
When we entered, the server made a big thing that it was table service. OK that's fine but when our food arrived I was expecting cutlery but no that is not part of the table service. I guess cutlery is not always required because if you want cutlery you have to collect them yourself from a central condiment stand.
Once we received our food it became obvious why you have to pay for your food in advance. The chips were OK but we found the fish was under cooked and swimming in oil. I managed to keep my lunch down but my partner did not manage that feat and ended up in the bathroom. Well that's £16 down the toilet.
I couldn't even say it was a pleasant environment. It felt like a dining hall the constant din was quite annoying and I gave up trying to talk to my Mam as she couldn't hear me over the noise.
This is one eatery that I will not be calling into again...
Read moreIf you're into the whole busy, family beach visit then this place is for you. They've recently added a Greggs and Co-op around the other side of where the chippy is (behind it). As well as a quaint little cafe on the corner. You can't miss it, it's as you drive into the car park, on the right side.
There's a free park for the kids, a nice green for the dogs to run around, with seating placed around the edges and near the long (life guards) building, it's the one with the taller part of the building towards the seafront.
The beach is pretty much always kept clean as well as the hard paved/concrete walking area alongside it. You also get a great view out to sea, minus the few wind turbines.
Dogs are allowed around the area and there's even a mobile, self service dog wash to get all that sand off before getting back into the car. There's plenty of accessible parking too, just as you enter the car park, located right next to the cafe.
There are also public toilets located in the 'long building' on the opposite side of the cafe / chippy. As if you're walking towards the sea. Pretty sure there's a small charge to use them.
The chip shop service is good, but it can get really busy, so be prepared to wait. The food is 'alright'. It's not the best chippy and the prices just seem to be forever climbing, but it's okay. If you want cheaper cans / bottles of pop, I'd suggest using the co-op. There's also an ice cream van that usually parks up near the accessible parking area.
If you found this review helpful, please give it a thumbs up 👍

Read moreToday, my friend and I went to this establishment as we do most weeks for our tea. I ordered haddock for both of us plus drinks. When I cut into my fish I observed to my friend that her fish was really white as opposed to mine which was grey. It was also very chewy! It seemed to me as if it had been recooked. I am very knowledgeable with regard to food hygiene. It was my job. I also have a very good qualification, intermediate food hygiene as well as the usual basic food hygiene. I have always been happy with dining at coastline but when I complained about the fish it was taken away immediately! I had no chance to photograph it. A young lady came and asked if I would like a drink on the house which I declined. I then noticed flies (no visible exterminator for flies in dining area. However there was one visible on the rear wall in the preparation area. There was a heap of dried grass on the floor as well as food debris, and we tried a few tables before we decided where to sit. This establishment seems to have the monopoly as there isn't another similar in that area. Personally it needs someone on the floor supervising and directing staff to clean tables and floor correctly as they are ahealth risk as well as a safety risk! I observed quite a few elderly couples, they have mobility problems and I would suggest that their eyesight isn't what it was. I would hesitate to recommend this...
