The staff were pleasant but that’s about it! I had Bruschetta for starter - the bread was warm and soggy, not toasted/grilled. It was covered in a mound of tasteless tomatoes, no hint of garlic whatsoever. This was served on a wooden platter or what I would call a chopping board! I then had the vegetarian Calzone and my husband had the meat version. His arrived covered in a pile of very pale looking mince meat. Mine came with a bland tomato sauce. The vegetables inside were just warm, not hot and the mozzarella cheese was all just clumped in one corner, again this was warm, in fact, it had not even started to melt so I don’t think it had been cooked properly. First northern date with my girlfriend and I was absolutely blown away by the cosy atmosphere, very friendly staff and a glass of very delicious wine before we were even seated. The food that followed was absolutely incredible and the intimate environment was beautiful.

Second major achievement (on second or third visit): my girlfriend asked the staff for something special for my birthday, to which they happily obliged.

Lunchtime is brilliant too but drinking a wonderful red with delicious food left us both with a decadently soporific glow.

Went for my first night out after having my baby decided to treat ourselves to the fillet steak at almost £19 each. It was tasteless, resembled a cheap sirloin and over cooked in all honesty had a better steak in witherspoons. The staff was however very friendly and it is obviously a family restaurant, which made me feel uncomfortable to complain. The starter was lovely and I've had brilliant meals there previously. But they should not be selling such poor quality steak at such a high price, I wouldn't be so bothered if I paid £12 for it but at almost £19 each we...
