Sapori Selby — Restaurant in England

Went here for the first time on Saturday evening. I thought I would treat the wife to a birthday meal. I have passed this place a few times and thought it would be something quite special from the menu and pricing. In truth it’s nothing special at all. I was a bit put off by the people outside the entrance smoking…. One girl had no teeth. Great!

I found it quite cramped inside, very noisy and the food was average at best. Garlic mushrooms were nothing to shout home about, nice but certainly not the best. We both chose the £28 beef stroganoff as a main. The beef was chewy and fatty. Honestly…. Marks & Spencer’s do a better version for £7 I love nice food, to eat in a nice atmosphere and sit amongst nice people. Price doesn’t come into if you feel you’re getting value for money in a nice setting. But Sapori 74 just isn’t that…. It’s ok. Just ok. Lastly….. the young lady who served us. Perfect! She was the highlight in a very average restaurant.

Since the new management this place has gone down hill. £500 + table 2 hours to get our starters. When they finally turned up they told us they’ve oversold on a special but a smaller table who ordered after us managed to get theirs. When the mains finally came, my son’s pizza had small thin strands of plastic from the salami on his pizza. When the first strand was found it was reported, the waitress came back and advised us it was plastic from the salami and would he like his meal replacing. After personally going downstairs to try speak to the manager I was told “it was a trick of the trade and I had put the plastic in my own son’s pizza”. I came back up obviously fuming to find my son had found a second strand of plastic!!! I took it down and told the manager we had found another piece. All we got as an apology was the offer of a different meal or a dessert. We advised no thank you we could not get out of here fast enough. Absolutely appalling behaviour, service and food. I will never ever come here again and would encourage readers if you value food safety DO...

Service really needs to sharpen up big time.

You arrive, after 30 mins you are approached to take your order and you’ve not asked for drinks yet so place your drinks order. 20 mins later you are told the wine you want is not available so you order something else. At the same time you place your food order. Wine arrives and all is well. Another 20 mins later you are approached to tell you the main you want is not available and you agree to look at the menu for an alternative. Then maybe another 20 mins later your starter arrives but no one has spoken to you about the alternative mains order you need to tell them about, so you tell them what you want. Then what feels like an eternity (and an apology from the waitress) later your main course arrives.

The food was nice. Not mind blowing but nice. But when a main course is over £30 and a very small starter £13 you expect a level of service far beyond what is on offer here. Want to support a local business but when the overall experience is so expensive and leaves so much to be desired it makes it extremely...
