Castle Bar — Restaurant in England

Thank you so much to all the staff at the castlebar We held a surprise party there on Saturday for our parents golden wedding anniversary and it was amazing. The owners and staff could not have been more accommodating and helpful. The food was fantastic and the venue was perfect. Some of our party arrived in Cockermouth on the Friday so ate here on the Friday night and all said what a great place and the food was fab. Our family travelled from all over the country to get together and we all felt as through we in out own front room chatting and catching up. The function room is so comfy and perfect for a family get together. This weekend has been special. For us and made even more special by the castlebar. We cannot thank you all enough. Visited in September 2020. A Nice surprise. Lovely warm welcome and friendly lady led us upstairs to a beautiful elegant room. Social distancing and COVID restrictions in place, staff wearing face coverings. Very good practice. Wow upstairs: although there are a few places to sit in other rooms, they were blocked off, led into a beautiful room with stone wall with feature fireplace and cosy lighting, beams on ceiling, nice tasteful decor. Relaxed atmosphere. Service very good, staff friendly, lovely pint of John Smiths for husband and a large vino namely Sauvignon Blanc. As a pub it's quite good with a great selection of ales etc. The TV in the bar is a bit of a distraction though but there are other places to sit. The restaurant area is nice but in my view over priced. Wine came to the table already opened and tasted really cheap and nasty to me although my wife thought it was OK. We both had sirloin and it was tasty although the chef had beaten it wafer thin. Too many oily onion rings and only...
