Tarantella — Restaurant in England

We are staying at Broughton Craggs this weekend and last night, 29th March 2020 and we decided to head to Cockermouth for some tea. We couldn’t get a seat at Blocks so we decided on Italian. We were walk in customers, we were told that the table was required to be vacant by 8pm, which as it was 6:30, wasn’t a problem.

We both ordered the Calzone and 2 portions of fat fries.

The Calzone came, the presentation was fantastic and the taste was sublime but unfortunately the Fat Fries were not present. By the time we had chance to ask the waitress where they were, we were three quarters through our Calzones. The waitress said that the order hadn’t gone through and she would bring them out as soon as they were ready. Five minutes later one portion of fat fries were placed on the table. I didn’t query it as we only had two mouthful of calzone left. The bill was charged for 2 soft drinks, 2 calzones and a portion of fat fries.

The tables around us, a table of 2 and two tables of 4 were all asked if everything was ok with their meals and if they required any more drinks.

My cola was empty half way through my calzone, yet we weren’t asked if we required any more drinks, or if our food was ok.

The food I’d give 7/10 as we weren’t keen on the fries. The service I’d give 2/10 as it was likened to a greasy spoon cafe...

Worst customer service ever! Seated in a dark corner next to a very large and very noisy family party. Couldnt hear ourselves think let alone hold a conversation. Repeatedly asked if we could have a table elsewhere, even the small table by the bar would have been fine!. We would have eaten and gone in half an hour. Didnt get the chance to try the food, as we were forced to abandon our order and leave as it was impossible to have a meal in those circumstances. No offer of a take out made, which I would happily have paid for and taken. We were shouted at by the owner who couldnt be bothered to try and move us or help us in any way. Food might well be good but good customer service is vital in the restuarant trade. Little table at bar was still empty when we walked back up the street...we...

We popped in to this Italians and what a fantastic find. The young staff where so friendly but the food wow it was amazing I 99.9% of the time always have pasta. Then true to tradition I ordered pasta pollo milanase, this came with plenty of sauce that was out of this world and two lovely succulent peices of chicken. I enquired if they had any parmazan and the young lady brought me a small dish full of this cheese gosh I was so pleased as some Italians don't like to share this with you. My partner ordered a pizza with olives and anchovies and the anchovies where really nice, can't comment on the olives 🤢. My partner really enjoyed her pizza. Oh and for starters we shared calamari with beetroot mayonnaise mmmm. If you get the chance call in to this Italians you won't be...
