41 Market Place — Restaurant in England

Went here for my birthday last week and thought it was excellent. Wonderful service that felt considerate but not overbearing. Delicious cocktails (the rum and apple cider one was sooo nice) and wines to choose from. I also thought the lighting was just right (this is no mean feat because a lot of places get this wrong and it can ruin the whole vibe I think!) We shared our starters of super delicious and fresh mussels; walnut and goats cheese with fig salad (a light dressing would have made this extra special maybe?) and a VERY tasty prawn dish. We were visiting Cockermouth and came across this lovely little restaurant, it came with local recommendations. We booked a table for 4 and were welcomed with open arms. The food was seasonal and everything was sourced from local farms and producers. I asked about a drink on the menu and was recommended to try a mixer with the rum, the mixer was given to me in the unopened tin in case I liked the Rum, which was a local produce, needless to say I didn't need a mixer! We came here for our wedding anniversary while staying in cockermouth and so glad we did. Nikky was so welcoming and the food that Del produced was amazing!! You can tell from the food that he really cares about what he is putting on the plate as the flavours he put together were were not something you'd think of IE salmon with apple but everything works so well together. Del is a chef not a cook and the proof is in his food. Nikky was so lovely too and she even put on our wedding song lol.
