This is a very good pub on the River Nene in the centre of Peterborough. Last year it has had extensive work expanding the outside area and on a sunny day it's really the place to be if you want to enjoy the weather by the river with a drink or three. They have a large selection of drinks which is ever changing, particulary real ales, stouts and traditional ciders. Burgers and Pizza food options at certain times if you get a bit peckish - not tried them yet so can't comment on quality. The place can get very busy but staffing levels are usually gauged correctly so they can deal with the increased demand without too much of a wait. Live music outside in summer and regular bands at the weekends. It has it all really.

It's almost like a second home! A range of Oahams Real ales and guest craft beers. Half the price of London pubs!!! Either from the hand pump or direct pour out of the cask. Huge range of Spirits, cocktails, wines and imported beers. This huge Dutch barge sailed across from the Netherlands and built about the same time as RMS Titanic. The barge is over 200 years old. During heavy storms the barge just rises a few feet, it's never going to get flooded! The Riverside huge beer garden has live music, some new huge wall art murals added around the beer garden AND outside real ale bars and a Pizzaria fashioned from huge shipping containers doing a roaring trade.

Really disappointed with the bar service today. 16/09/2025 The bar staffs knew I was waiting but decided to ignore me and serving the late comer. Particularly the bar wasn’t even busy. This have happened several time I been here and they makes me feels like they just doesn’t like foreigners. Enough is enough, I will spend my money elsewhere rather than coming to a place that makes me feel unwelcome. After he ignored me I just packed my things and walked out. Not sure I will be back after today even though I have come here for the last few years after work to chill.

My family and I had an awful experience with the restaurant and the bar after visiting Peterborough for the day. It ruined the whole experience and really didn’t match up with the beautiful environment. We initially went into the restaurant where it was more than half empty and was rudely asked to sit and wait at the entrance. After about 10 minutes with no one showing interests to us, we decided to try the bar opposite as we have an appointment to attend 40min nearby. I ordered a meatball panini and some fries. After waiting for another 15 minutes, I had to attend the bar asking where my food is and noticed the guy in the kitchen was just about to start preparing the ‘panini’ and told me the fry takes 2min. The ‘panini’ really didn’t match up expectations at all, just a dry baguette, not even toasted, with tiny tasteless 2-3 meat balls inside but nothing else. I had to ask for a refund for the chips as just couldn’t wait for any longer. This level of service and food standard will not survive somewhere like London or Cambridge where we came from, worse than some of the small fish & chip shops when I was living in Norfolk. Really not expected somewhere like Peterborough would have this kind of level of service quality. I really feel like saying not wanting to visit the city again, but it doesn’t do any justice to the beautiful bridge, river Nene and hundreds of swans nearby and the beautiful cathedral… My plan is to prepare my own food to take if my family and I were to visit...

What a great venue for love music, the staff where amazing and accomodating especially considering we were booked last minute to cover a cancelation.

It is a fantastic atmosphere and the gig was pimping from start to finish.

Accoustocs are great even though it's mostly wood you don't get the usual issues that brings. The stage is on an angle so it takes some creative stage layout. 🤣 But we fit a 5 piece band on there with room to move.

The owners were fantastic as we're all the door staff and bar staff on hand to help with everything we needed.

On too the clientele they were amazing, one of the best atmospheres in Peterborough. I would reccomend it to any other band. The load in was difficult it's a long walk from the car and it's an awkward carry down a spiral staircase. I'd reccomend bringing anything with wheels on. The venue provided us with a sack barrow however it definatley would of been easier with a flat bed barrow. The Load in would be much easier with one, I hope one day the venue can provide one.

However there is a gorgeous outdoor space right near the staff car park. So In the summer it would be a perfect load in and i can not express enough how beautiful and big the outdoor space is. It looks like it would be an epic evening or afternoon.

We are going back in November, 🙂 We really can't wait and I would reccomend any other bands if you haven't already play this venue you won't be dissapponted.

Not from Peterborough but only 45 mins away and didn't know about Charters bar. What a great find. Was impressed with the set up. Always helps with a hot sunny day but a great vibe here. Dj throughout the day on this particular day but think they have regular slots. Plenty of seating. Reasonably Priced beer at £5 which the wife said was a good 🍺, just a thought for the owners, could maybe do with more choice for non alcohol beer as im off the 🍺 but presume they need to way up stock verse sales on this so understand as listed as a drinked venue😅. Drink was served in a strong recycled glass (get the use of these for the venue & not like the flimsy ones at festival). Pleny of glass collectors working really hard. Pleasant security staff and friendly engaging bar staff. Toilets 👍 didnt eat, so cannot say about the food but what i saw looked fine and Reasonably priced, various choices. 3 lots of bars dotted round. No parking on site but public one over the road that u pay on exsit. Owners are doing a fine job. Familes with kids too enjoying the vibe with a ice cream van and temp tattoo tent to keep kids entertained....
