I recently had the pleasure of dining at Chestergate Bistro in Macclesfield, and it was an experience that exceeded all expectations. From the moment we walked in, we were warmly greeted by the Manager, Amit, whose professionalism and attention to detail set the tone for the entire evening. His knowledge of the menu and wine pairings was impeccable, and he made us feel like VIPs from start to finish.

The real star of the day, however, was Chef Tarun. The culinary artistry on display was nothing short of extraordinary. Every dish was a masterpiece, crafted with precision and bursting with flavor. Chef Tarun’s ability to balance innovative techniques with classic flavors is truly remarkable. The presentation was stunning, and the taste even better—each bite was a testament to his talent and dedication.

Lovely decor inside. Cosy and continental style cafe feel to it. Waiter was very attentive and as there was a delay with our mains we were offered some free canapés as a gesture which I thought showed excellent customer service. My steak was cooked to perfection and I could not fault the food. The mushroom soup for starter was delicious. I had the sticky toffee pudding for dessert with ice cream and it was beautifully presented and delicious also. We complimented the meal and the Chef came out personally to speak to us which again I thought was nice. My only suggestion would be slightly bigger portion sizes, but it was still a very decent sized meal and not too small like some fine dining experiences. My partner and I visited Friday night, and from the moment we arrived, we were made to feel completely at home. The staff checked in on us throughout the evening to make sure we were happy, which we really appreciated.

Unfortunately, we didn’t catch the name of our main server, but everyone working that evening was absolutely lovely and professional. To celebrate me passing my driving test (only 30 years late!), they surprised me with a delicious brownie, complete with “Congratulations” written in chocolate sauce — such a thoughtful touch!

As for the food, I genuinely don’t think I’ve had anything that good in ages. Highly recommend this place.
