After a work event in Macclesfield, we couldn’t resist stopping by this historic pub, especially since it was featured on TV as the most haunted pub in the UK.

The atmosphere was warm and inviting, both from the landlords and the locals. The drinks were reasonably priced.

The highlight of our visit was the private tour the landlord gave us. He took us around the original 16th-century staircase, and told us the stories surrounding the 'Ghosts' that live in the pub. When we reached the upper floor, then leading to the ‘haunted attic,’ it felt truly eerie and otherworldly—definitely added a bit of thrill to the experience!

The Bate Hall is Macclesfield's oldest pub and it's absolutely packed with history and paranormal intrigue. As one of the UK's most haunted locations, it's easy to see why. The Jacobean staircase has marks from where witches were said to be hanged, and the old priest hole now contain a skull. It has so many amazing paranormal activity stories, from marks appearing and disappearing on the walls, to the hole in the woodwork that contains witches, and the ghost of a child named Billy who moves balls in the middle of the room. Called in today wed 25th Oct.for first time for lunch.lovely old pub.good homemade food.the landlord and landlady were so friendly and welcoming couldn't do enough.even let me go and look upstairs at the old haunted rooms.would definitely recommend.
