Went to Cinnamon to celebrate my brother’s 40th. The food for most was said to have been good, chicken nice and tender etc and the starters were nice. However my king prawn Bhuna was not good. The sauce looked like many of the other curries on the table and the prawns were like little balls of rubber - def not fresh. The service from the young guy that took our orders etc was good but the front of house service was very ‘bizarre’. At first the woman who seemed to be running the bar, seemed friendly, but as the evening got busier she seemed stressed and it showed. We asked for our bill several times and she seemed flustered by this. Two of our party paid separately as they had to leave early, but this wasn’t correctly deducted from the bill. The drinks hadn’t been itemised but written as one total sum. A. I’m not sure if this is legal and B. It made it difficult to determine what each couple had to pay or if indeed the drinks total was accurate. The woman made several unhelpful comments while we were trying to sort the bill, for example, ‘ me and my friends find it easier to split the bill. Yes I can check the bill again as I’ve only done it 3 times. I get really bothered when lots of people are standing around me. Yes I can get you your bill but I’ve been told to clear your plates’ etc etc. She even snapped at the poor young waiter when he tried to help, by asking him if he wanted to do it himself. The poor guy was so embarrassed and so were we! We all found her behaviour very strange and not very professional or friendly. I feel that the manager should make sure all staff are trained to deal with issues raised by customers and not show their own frustrations and make customers feel uncomfortable. Maybe she was having a bad evening, but that shouldn’t affect the way she interacts with paying guests. Regrettably I won’t be returning to Cinnamon for this reason; mainly because of the service but also because I have had better king prawn curries...
Read moreWe went here for my daughter’s birthday. I dropped of her cake and balloons as a surprise for her. All well until our food arrived and it was down hill from there. The popadoms and pickles arrived missing some that were listed in the menu. Then the mains, I had a patia, it was very red, no tomatoes and no heat at all. This is advertised as hot in the menu and should be as I have it a lot from other places it also tasted VERY sour and chemically nothing else. I spoke to the manager who tried to convince me it’s about flavour not heat!? In fact he was speaking to me as thought I had no idea and quite condescending. I also had Bombay potatoes which was made with new pots with their skins on, no flavour at all so if you know your curry’s DONT GO HERE! It’s full of additives and colouring with weird flavours! None of the rest of my party eat there meals. My curry was knocked of the bill we were all disappointed with the short cuts they used. An absolute disgrace to Indian food. Also we were seated by the kitchen and had to endure music from the kitchen and different in the restaurant and a lot of fumes from the kitchen which set my sister in laws asthma off we had to make a quick exit, couldn’t wait to get out! And forgot to ask for the cake. Daughter returned day after to be told they threw it away!! Eat it more like. If you know your Indian food STAY AWAY NOTHING BUT ADDITIVES, RED COLOURING AND TERRIBLE...
Read moreThought I would persevere with the food here. Food isn't bad and the owner was always present in my past visits and was always friendly. The last 2 occasions I haven't Seen him. This time I went to collect a favourite of mine, lamb chop starter. Usually a mint sauce is provided and in all my years of eating Indian food this has been the case. This wasn't part of the order on this occasion. Lamb chop isn't a cheap starter and is on the menu for about £6. I thought I would query with the staff just in case this was a mistake. The lady at the front of the house wasn't sure if it should be included. I suggested it always had been in the past and that this was the case with all other Indian restaurants I had eaten from in the past. The response I had was quite arrogant. The reply was well were not like other Indian restaurants and I think the mint sauce is provided with onion bahji only. The food isn't that great for me to not go anywhere else and it would be nice to have some clarity if the mint sauce is provided. A cheap accompinent for an expensive dish. In fairness the mint sauce was provided at goodwill however In light of the arrogance in response to my query this was poor customer service in my opinion which has really let my experience down. Shall have to consider alternatives...
