Normally lounges are fantastic for gluten free! And entire menu available, although a bit more expensive to the regular menu. Food was delicious and quite good value, although on the smaller side helping wise. Food was very quick to come out and was delicious. Would recommend the tapas and also the fresh orange juice. However, have visited again with friends and made sure to order gluten free again. This time my friends food were brought out fairly quickly and the restaurant was quite empty. 20 minutes passed and my food had still not come out so at this point my friends were eating theirs so it wouldn’t go cold. Eventually I asked where it was, and the waiter chased it up for me. It was eventually brought out and didn’t have the regular gluten free/allergy flags on it (I had ordered at the bar as if it’s coeliac you can’t order online). Very suspicious of how good the burger bun looked, we double checked with the waiter. He said it was gluten free but I asked him to double check with the chef as it really didn’t look like it. He checked and came back very apologetic and said it was in fact not gluten free so took it away. Luckily I didn’t eat any or would have had a reaction. By this point my friends had finished, the second burger came out and was again not gluten free! I asked a different waitress and she confirmed it wasn’t gluten free again! This happened a further time and at this point I was worried they’d just swapped the burger to the gluten free bun which is very bad cross contamination. Eventually it was remade and I could finally eat my dinner, although I was very worried about my safety at this point. I wasn’t offered any compensation or refund regarding the situation and now I’m worried about going back as normally it’s so good.

We stumbled upon this place accidentally on our way home from Bristol. There was plenty of seating both inside and outside, but since it was a hot day we decided to sit inside as there was no shade outside. The staff were friendly and attentive, we got seated quite soon. The food was good, everyone enjoyed what they had. I had some tapas and a side of sweet potato fries. It was all very tasty. My only comment on the food is the bread ‘fingers’. The whipped feta was delicious, but the little bread fingers it came with were super dry. I know they were toasted, but it became really dry. We liked the atmosphere too, nice moody and cosy decor, various types of seating options, at normal tables or armchairs etc. My only issue was the noise level. Although, the place itself wasn’t too busy when we were there it was extremely noisy. The music was loud, staff was what I can imagine emptying the dishwasher or washing/tidying up making lots of noise behind the bar area, felt like we were sitting in the kitchen in a busy canteen. Well, this is just my experience, someone else might not mind it. Otherwise, good place, would recommend it.

Stopped in here for lunch. This kind of place is exactly what Newbury needs more of in northbrook street. Casual easy dining to relax, watch the world go by and eat. There’s a pretty decent sized menu, maybe too much choice to ensure quality of each meal. But saying that even though we rocked up on a Saturday and advised of up to a 40 min wait for food before we took a table the food came out in about 15-20 minutes - and was actually delicious. The big lounge breakfast was exactly like it says and decent. The halloumi and falafel salad was good and the sumac dressing great with a nice amount of spice. Kids meals good selection and kids happy. Colouring menu and crayons - keeps them busy. We’ll done Cobrizo. The outdoor seating area looked great but too hot in the sun (mid July heat wave). If the Uk had weather like this more often maybe a pull out shade awning would make the outside area able to be sat at on one of the 10 or so hot days of the year.

I was so excited to visit Cobrizo Lounge earlier today after hearing of its opening last week. The meal, although cold once it arrived was lovely.....I was however very disappointed in the service received.

I placed my order for food and hot drinks at 12:55, eventually 30 minutes later I had to go in search of our missing food and drinks. When the food arrived I was then accused of it being my fault for "Moving Tables". What happened to the customer always being right??? The root cause was that when I placed my order the lady taking the order didn't hear our table number correctly.

I would recommend

That the staff are trained on taking orders properly. If establishments like Nandos can get it right then there should be no reason for Cobrizo to fail in this area so terribly. That you provide your customers with a copy of their order and receipt so that when mistakes happen they can act as a second check. It is also incredibly unproductive to have to staff wondering around downstairs looking for the right table when you also have an upstairs seating section. That when mistakes do occur that you first apologise to your customers instead of making them feel like they are being a nuisance. Basics like providing them with cutlery and condiments for their meal would go a long way.

Would I return.......at this point its debatable. Even after trying to help by highlighting the root cause, I left feeling quite doubtful that I was being taken seriously, or, if they even cared that I was a very unsatisfied customer.

Newbury already has so many different amazing lunch options to choose from.....Cobrizo Lounge will probably be right at the bottom of my...

Have visited this location a few times, both at lunch and in the evening. Lunch service has always been brilliant, but both times I have visited in the evening have not left happy. The most recent evening I visited was Friday (7.7.23) where I placed an order for myself and my husband. My order arrived but my husband's did not. When I questioned this, I was told that I had not ordered his food, despite the fact that the woman serving me had read back my order and his was on there. Food was then ordered again and husband was given a reluctant free pint, but staff member was very standoffish and when husband asked for the pint to be topped up (as the head of the pint was rather large) was told that's how they serve it and was quite rude. As stated previously lunch service has always been perfect and I have been to other locations (Christchurch and Southboune) where I have never had an issue. Food is always lovely and prepared well and how you ask for it, as well as the fact they cater for and are very thorough with dietary requirements and allergies. Unfortunately evening staff in this location (not all members) let down the overall enjoyment of the...
