2 stars because it's dog friendly. We got here at 12 (breakfast served till 11.30), and there was an option of a panini, quiche or frittata, but no scotch egg available or any other "no bread, or potato option). Been told no sitting outside was set up due to the weather, so opted for the upstairs as downstairs tables are so close that you can hardly move. Pannini was just that, plain cheese and ham served in a cardboard box. I have chosen salad (asked separately for ham, as there were no healthy additions to the salad, got 2 slices of ham for £2.75 ). The salad was served in a take-out box, and it wouldn't be a massive issue if it was fresh. There was a selection of coleslaw, some sort of pickle, beetroot with goat's cheese and fennel salad, all in the same container. Fennel salad contained hard ends of Fennel bulbs and was not very fresh. We also had 2 coffees (Americanos with milk), which were more like dishwater. Total cost just over £21. Our first and the last time.

Always great food (although, let's be honest, I'm there for the amazing cake), with cheerful service. Sadly, since the move into the parish rooms, it's not very practical for a single walker with a big dog. There isn't really enough space inside to get the dog between the tables to the counter, or space to sit down inside with him while keeping him away from other dogs. I only go in here now if I'm out without the dog (rare), or with a companion to wait outside with the dog (good weather only).

UPDATE 26-4-24 Tasty double fried egg sandwich this morning (£3.50) in relaxed atmosphere. Helpful service with a smile. Dog chilled. Great coffee. Got cakes to take over to friends. See pics. Good prices for quality food. Nice specials too. LAST SUMMER Great coffee and food. Love the ciabatta and the cakes are crazy good. Oh and it’s moved to by the church and is still orange van till they move into the old parish rooms soon.

An absolute gem. Today was the first time I have visited coffee and crumbs since they moved from the canal side, and I think it has become my new favourite place. The menu is so appetising, with classics alongside things that are that little bit different or unique. So many people were asking about the scotch eggs and saying they're the nicest they've ever had....I almost wish I wasn't vegetarian so I could taste what the hype is. Vegetarian options are plentiful, and fresh, and beautiful, and the cake counter is out of this world. I do have a sweet tooth and I find it disappointing when something looks better than it tastes. Not the case here! I was stuck for choice of what to order so I went for a malteser brookie which was the richest, gooiest, most indulgent brownie I've ever had. Definitely worth the calories, and I will definitely be going back at every...
