Having frequented and enjoyed everything offered at Compton Acres I was very disappointed and frankly shocked with the total lack of customer service I received today by the Chef Viv. I had ordered the rare beef sandwich with the usual side dish. Due to the fact I was unable to cut the sandwich,I tried to bite into it but the meat was like leather and much too thick. I returned it all to a lovely member of staff who was very apologetic and suggested I choose another sandwich and and would be reimbursed the difference of £5 I was then advised by another staff member that the head chef had tried the meat and informed me that it was fine and nobody else had complained. I asked to speak to Viv and apart from being a tad reluctant to speak to me and my husband ,was incredibly cold and matter of fact and no compromise or goodwill offered. All so unnecessary over a sandwich I couldn't chew which has resulted in ill feeling and we certainly will not be returning or recommending the Cafe...
Read moreI always thought of this place as mainly for coach trips and weddings... totally wrong! There's so much here! Hard to know where to start. Gardens are 10 acres separately themed. Winding paths take you through the valley, densely planted with a fantastic variety of species it's a joy. Despite being Feb there was plenty to see. The formal areas are truly stunning. Kids will love the tunnels, bridges and stepping stones. Plus there's a whole play area in the woods. Views from the top of the gardens are incredible. Interesting sculptures everywhere, great fun trying to spot them all. One visit is not enough to take it all in. They also have a huge shopping space. Local things, plants, kids toys, gifts and an Italian deli. Could have spent hours browsing. Cafe was clean with lots of lunch options. Plenty of seats inside and out. Staff were the absolute best. Kind and welcoming. Can't wait to go back...

Never come across this before.. you're charging me £4.35 for a piece of cake and you expect to me accept a dogend over a proper piece? So I had the coffee cake instead, which was dry and not worth the price. The hot chocolate was nice, but it didn't make up for the poor cake and especially the poor attitude and service - I won't be ordering tea here again when I can get better for...
