The View Restaurant — Restaurant in England

Stick to drinks on the terrace. This restaurant and the Chinese (also located in the harbour heights hotel) have the best views of any restaurant in Poole. They should be rammed. They should be packed on a lovely spring evening, but they are not and now I know why ..... Sadly, the service and the food just aren't up to scratch. They are understaffed (or so it feels). On a glorious, sunny Bank Holliday weekend evening, the bar was deserted. No bar staff or customers in sight. I sat at the bar for ages waiting to be served. Plenty of staff passed me, heads down, not wanting to catch my attention. (Top tip - greet customers, apologise for the delay and if you can't help cause you're busy, send some else to help). I was also unable to eat on the terrace (Chinese) as there was only one member of staff on. I offered to come inside to place my order, which we agreed on. But when I ordered I was told they would bring all the food together. I declined and moved next door to the Italian. I was ignored and left standing again for ages, but once seated my order was taken quickly. The food arrived quickly too. Sadly the pasta was really overcooked. I mean stodgy and water logged. The carbonara sauce was sickly with too much cream. So in summary, view 5 out of 5. Service 2 out if 5 and...

Excellent service. Excellent food. World Class view. Have been here plenty of times. The new management team have transformed the restaurant impressively. Britney was our waitress and absolutely cudos to her for delivering superb service (and dog treats for the dog!). Definitely worth a trip particularly to the terrace...

Our second lunch at The View. For our first lunch we shared the Mezze Platter options and loved the variety. Today we enjoyed Fish and Chips and their Burger. Fresh, good portions and delicious. Wonderful service again. A fabulous view across to Brown Sea Island....
