Continente Café — Restaurant in England

Popped in for a visit today. Seemed nice inside greeting was average the two young girls serving were ok. One was more interested in her phone to even say hello. Not knowing to sit down or go to the counter. I chose the later. Normally you get take a seat she stopped texting and I browsed the menu offered a breakfast and a cup of tea. No table was allocated so I walked over to a window seat. Tea was brought out - No milk so had to go back to the counter and ask. Breakfast came some 32 minutes later. It wasn't particularly busy just one other table with 4 lads from the car wash over the road. Got the sorry for the wait from the girl. Unfortunately I now had just 20mins to eat it. So had a bit of everything. Mushrooms and tomatoes were cold. But everything else was well presented and nice in temperature. Had I had more time then I would of enjoyed the food. But it seemed a bit rushed. Left without a goodbye from anyone. £8.50 less plus the tip. Might give it ago again but Gardeners Basildin and Myplace on the A127 have...

I have been here before and it was amazing, so we went back today. Well today I won’t ever be going back again. I ordered a mini breakfast with a poached egg, beans and extra mushroom. I got given a mini breakfast with mushroom fried egg and no beans. I just looked at it. They toke my food away, I got it back 5 mins later, plate full of grease where they had taken off my egg and mushroom. Everything was stone cold by now even the beans that was put on my plate. Still no egg but it was being cooked. We got a bowl of mushroom. I ate the 2 sausages and a rasher of bacon, I couldn’t stomach a second slice of cold bacon. I got my egg half way through my breakfast which was still raw in the middle. Was no happy. Driven past this place a hundred times so decided to pop in for a post-workout snack. Visited at lunchtime and it was almost full, testament to the food served here. My partner went for the Berry Smoothie which was served cold and packed with fruit, and I had the Chicken Salad (extra chicken breast). The salad was excellent and very generously portioned. The pomegranate seeds on top were a nice touch too. Situated right on the London road, there are a few free parking spots right outside but there’s also plenty of parking available along the side roads. The cafe is clean and nicely decorated, staff are friendly and attentive and the food is very good. Update: having tried several more of their dishes here, I’m really impressed. The Protein Steak is definitely my new favourite....
