I would've given 5 stars but there is room for improvement and I will explain why in my review. I was asked was everything alright when I was paying for the food, this was a bit late because good practice is to ask the customer within 5 minutes or shortly after serving the food to make sure everything is ok and put anything right if the customer isn't happy with something. I rated 3 stars for atmosphere because the although the service was good and good arrived in a timely manner and it was of good produce , I should've spoken up and said the food was fine but you are alienating a lot of customers by saying the special offer breakfast is meant for one person and not to be shared. I'm sure most people would agree that in today's economic situation, going to a coffee shop is a luxury and mainly those with an available income can afford to go everyday. The customers were mainly local people, the elderly and tourists, therefore , passing trade in winter months to a business like yours should be welcomed and if a customer like me wants to share the contents of their breakfast with another person for whatever the reason whether it's because of financial restrictions, health reasons or having a smaller appetite ,this should not be frowned upon or looked down on as I could potentially be a returning customer and reviews can make or break a business these days so all custom should be welcomed. I might of spent more money yesterday because the cakes looked amazing, but I felt because I was made to feel uncomfortable, I didn't want to spend more than I already had. I hope you will take on board my comments because they are valid and next time I'm in Amble I won't be made to feel awkward if I want to share my food with...
Read moreWhat a beautiful, quaint place to be. My second time visiting, having breakfast this time. Absolutely wonderful quality food and service and the hot chocolate from my first visit was delicious too! They serve an array of delightful hot/cold drinks and plenty of food options for grown ups and kiddies too. Afternoon tea is also served and there is also a little gift shop corner and the walls arw adorned with local art too, all for sale. And the most important thing for us was that it was dog friendly and the staff even gave her a little treat to make her feel welcome. We loved it there, I highly recommend a visit for a drink or food or cake or everything all at once!...
Read moreWe held a baby shower for 20 in the upstairs room of the Coquet Tea Rooms and it was incredible. Beverley was so helpful with organising and made it super easy for us. The food was amazing, a great selection of sandwiches, scones, savoury pastries and cakes- all baked fresh and tasting delicious. The staff even made up a small gluten free sandwich and cake at super short notice for us for one of the attendees. All of the staff were amazing, super friendly and helpful, even staying on a little bit later when we overran to let us get tidied away afterwards.
If you’re looking for a small event space in Amble with delicious food, this is it- cannot recommend them...
