Spurreli — Restaurant in England

This is an amazing café, with beautiful ice cream usually. We often come here. However, today, we had a bad experience. The ice cream was very melty. It has been a cooler day. We noticed this issue straight away. I don't know if more milk than usual was added during the preparation of the particular flavours we ordered, as it seemed chilled enough.

The ladies who work here are always lovely and so very accommodating. Today, we were served by a young man, and he wasn't very friendly, seemed "put out." he had to serve us and barely said a word other than asking about allergies. We were given the dregs of the chocolate ice cream scrimped together. There was barely enough for a full scoop, despite there being a fresh tray to put in. My son has said he felt a bit of a nuissance as he couldn't decide on a flavour at first. I hope this was just a one-off, as we love it there,...

As somebody who absolutely loves Ice Cream, I find spurrelis a bit of a mixed experience. Their Ice cream is just above average at best, a few times it’s been to soft.

What I’m most disappointed with is the staff, many of them come across as unfriendly, sometimes even abit rude, And the service is so so so slow times. I often visit at the end of the day after I’ve finished work so god knows what it’s like at busy times. That being said there are a couple members of staff there that seem genuinely nice and friendly. Despite these issues I do find myself coming back every few weeks, they have such a variety of flavours, that seem to change pretty often so there is always something new to try. And the flavours are quite strong which I appreciate. It’s such a shame my past few visits have been so negative that’s it’s tainted my view...

Update 2023 late Dec. On a cold and wet day we decided to cheer ourselves ( Adult grandchildren in tow) up with an ice cream. Café queue ran outside unto the street, but the serving team were keeping it moving.. Interesting that every customer group had representatives from at least two generations. We tried; Pistachio, choc, and sea buckthorn, all irresistibly edible. High expectations not disappointed! (2018) Fantastic gelatto ice cream, great coffee and cakes. The perfect destination for a nice family group cycle trip from that other great cake and coffee stop on NCN1 at Druridge...
