Corner House Café and Ice Cream Parlour — Restaurant in England

Just visited for ice cream and although there was a huge selection the display was dreadful. Hand written messy notes stuck to the glass, the ice cream fridge looked unloved. As I stood waiting for quite some time I looked around and realised the whole place was somewhat of a mess, both front of house and behind the counter. Not dirty, just cluttered, nothing put away and these aweful handwriten notes everywhere. It was so bad I had to ask the assistant if she wanted me to put a glass cover over the cakes on the counter so she had space to put my order down🙈. Went to the Corner House on 6th April. The lady took our order but seemed not to be concentrating and had to ask again for our order. Our main problem was how unkind she was to the young girl who was working there. It seemed as though the girl was just learning the job but was constantly criticised and told what she should be doing. Unfortunately this was done rather loudly and in front of us and other customers instead of taking her to the side and explaining nicely. Good points: Staff friendly and brought a big bone biscuit for my dog which always wins points!!

The breakfast was great, good portion sizes and tasty. Coffee not the best but they did have oat milk which is a bonus.

Negatives: The whole cafe could do with a really good tidy up and declutter. Tables were dirty with stains and menus are a variety of laminated, tired looking things. There are boards and notices everywhere. Doesn’t give a good impression. Given the gorgeous old building they’re located in, it would have been nice to see more...
