Being more of a 'small, independent' coffee shop kinda gal, this may be the reason for my measly two star review... maybe this is the norm for Costa and I've just been spoilt? But anyway, I didn't realise it was possible to get a Chai Latte SO wrong?? I can't really put my finger on it, but it just tasted... well... nothing like a Chai is supposed to taste. It was like a great big mug of overly sweet, overly spiced milk. 'Synthetic' would be a good choice of word to describe it! Had it not been for the huge queue at the counter (note: it's probably a good idea to have more than a couple of staff behind the counter at midday on a Saturday) then I would have taken it back. Disappointed by the choice of biscuits/cakes also, but again this could be completely normal for a chain coffee shop? The two stars are for the happy chap...
Read moreIt was a shame - the staff are fairly friendly all be it giving the impression they want to get on and serve the next person on and on. I understand as they get busy but it does feel rushed. We sat at a table near to the serving counter, the table behind had a bloke talking really loudly which was irritating as I could have ignored my friend and joined in his conversation as i could hear him so clearly and he obviously felt the need to be heard! It was also sadly very noisy everytime the staff were making a drink the milk steaming machine made such a loud noise i couldn't hear myself think let alone speak! I wonder whether the tables are positioned too close to the prep/serving areas or the machines could be...

Toilets inadequate in the extent that there are only 2, one doubles as a disabled, but if both are occupied, then one has to hang around outside the doors waiting. The doors open directly into the restaurant area, so not nice if eating or drinking and someone exits the toilets after having a bad tummy experience! When it was designed it should of had a toilet foyer area. Staff kept very busy, and seemed under undue pressure owing to the numbers of people wanting to order. I felt sorry for them! Employing less staff to keep prices down seems...
