So, today I went to Crema with my elderly mother, for lunch. When we ordered,we said we'd share the salmon pasta and would need an extra bowl. Our coffee arrived, then the chef brought our pasta and bread and butter to us. I reminded him we needed another bowl. He muttered that the dish is single and that he'd do this this time. He made me feel unwelcome, I didn't enjoy the food, although it was delicious, because I was so annoyed at his off the cuff remarks. The waitress asked us if everything was alright, to which I said no, it's not, I'm quite upset that the chef begrudged us an extra bowl. There were eight tables, two of which were used (one by us). Surely it's better to have people coming in, rather than empty seats? The girl apologized, to which I said we're not complaining about her, she'd done a great job. I told her I'd be speaking with the chef before we leave. Once I'd paid, I said to the waitress that the chef looked busy, could she please share with him that we were upset. Wherever we have lunch,we always ask for an extra plate this is the only café that's made it clear they don't like it. She said she'd already told him we are upset. To which I thought, okay, he's clearly not bothered, we'll go and give a report. He then chased us saying it is a dish for single person, but then trying to apologize. Too late. Won't be recommending them anymore and I won't be going there again. There's plenty more lovely cafés and restaurants in Congleton to choose from, where they welcome customers with...
Read moreDuring my recent dining experience, I must admit that I was not very impressed. My friend and I had ordered dinner with the intention of having dessert afterwards, but unfortunately, the meals arrived barely warm, and the side dishes did not come with the main course. To make matters worse, part of our order was not even cooked therefore had to wait for another side order.
After a few hours of chatting, we asked the waiter if we could order cake. However, she informed us that they were closing in just two minutes, and we were not given any prior warning. From that point on, it felt like the staff did not appreciate our presence, and there was no effort made to engage in general conversation.
While I must acknowledge that the establishment has potential, I do not think I will be returning anytime soon. The service was subpar, and the food could have been much better. I hope that the management takes note of these issues and makes the necessary improvements to ensure a more pleasant dining experience for...
Read moreMy son took me here first as he rated the coffee and he's quite a Cofficienado !!!
Three recent visits in the last 10 days.
First, again with my son for coffee and a snack. We both chose a warm pork & apple sausage roll. He had his usual black Americano and I opted for a capacunio. Everything was spot on including the service, the cleanliness and the friendliness of the staff.
Second, quick nip in for a capacunio "to go" in between incoming and outgoing buses. The bus station is only a 5 min walk.
Third, was today where I ordered what I'd seen on the menu wall on my previous visit. Hot roast beef with onion gravy served on a floury bap. Seasoned with a tiny bit of salt it was truly delicious. Washed down with now "regular" capacunio.
Highly rated in every way. 5...
