Thinking that a booking for lunch in a small provincial town on a Thursday would be unnecessary, I was amazed to find the DV8 restaurant in full swing with no vacant tables. First good sign...... Staff were quick to sort out a table for myself and my guests so we soon had seats and perused the menu over a glass of wine. Second good sign...... The order was taken in a friendly and efficient manner, a broad smile a bonus despite the pressure of business. Third good sign...... There are too few superlatives in my personal lexicon to adequately describe such a wonderful meal. Cooked to perfection, served with alacrity with no feeling of hurry meant we were able to eat in a totally relaxed manner. What could have been fairly standard dining was raised to a different level by the imagination of the Chef and his team. My choice of battered cauliflower and a curry puree followed by a chilli con carne garnished with a lavish helping of Stilton sauce was innovative to say the least. The portions of all our meals were generous and, even though I struggled somewhat, there was no way that even a scintilla of this delightful fare would be left. This was not just a meal, it was an experience. Well done to the whole team. If you don't visit DV8 whilst you are in Congleton, you will miss something...
Read morewent with a group of 20 one tuesday night, the tapas night, cramped in and roasting hot stuck upstairs total meal was around £250 including a bottle of wine each couple, with the standard of food and cost it was an excellent night give and take the table which had no room at all , so i ate on my knee, my only gripe after spending all that money was that on the menu it was 5 cocktails and one free, so we ordered one each and asked for the free one to go to the person who had the birthday, we were told that one person had to drink all 5 cocktails to recieve the free one, in this day of sensible drinking i really cant understand this,dv8 are really promoting drunken behavior , i would have liked to see the response to behaviour if any one person had drunk 6 cocktails!! they were quite pedantic on the decision, so its gone from me putting a rave review for the night,to one of jobsworth waitresses, is it worth a couple of...
Read moreLounge area not fully dog friendly. We love DV8 and as we had seen on Facebook their lounge area advertised as dog friendly we decided to pop in. I asked staff in the bar area to check it was dog friendly then asked again when we entered the lounge and we had a lovely warm welcome. As we were choosing our seat someone ran in who I assume was the manager telling us that there are people who want to eat in here so we couldn't sit here with the dog and we were asked to sit outside. We didn't want to sit outside as its too cold for our dog soand we didn't want to stay somewhere advertised as dog friendly but not really feeling welcome. There are lots of places that have dog friendly areas and we heav never been asked to leave when people come in without a dog! This was really disappointing and we won't be going back in a rush even...
