Cyprus Turkish Restaurant & Meze Bar — Restaurant in England

Had an absolutely amazing dining experience on Saturday night with my family. We drove across from London for an evening in Southend and decided to stop for some dinner here before we headed to the seafront. From beginning to end we were treated with warm smiles and top hospitality almost as if we were family members! The generosity of the owner was above and beyond.....we were given huge amounts of starters on the house (multiple mixed mezes, bread and also complimentary baklava and tea) Our main course was a selection of Adana, mixed kebab and chicken shish- all of which was cooked to perfection and served with delicious fresh salad. We usually eat a lot of Turkish food in London where unfortunately it's mass produced and churned out without the love and care which we experienced here at Istanbul/Cyprus. Took 1 hour and 45 minutes for my delivery of 1 dish. Food was due 13:55 and arrived at 14:50. When I called to query where my food was, I was told rudely "I've sent the food, what do you want me to do?" When I suggested they call the driver and see where they are and how long it would be, I was told 5 minutes, which actually turned out to be 35 minutes. They also stopped answering my calls. To top it off, food was not even lukewarm when it arrived, the bread was clearly recycled stale bread as as soon as it touched the air, it turned into a chewy cracker, and the ribs/rice had barely any flavour, I had to add my own salt. I was so looking forward to my visit, having had their takeaway on many occasions and know that the food is great. Arrived early, around 7pm on a Wednesday. Restaurant was empty bar one couple. The restaurant was cold and the music being piped through was the radio. Left about 5 minutes later as the atmosphere was so awful. Gutted. This review was for the Westcliff restaurant.
