Oldhams of Westcliff — Restaurant in England

This is by far one of my favorite fish and chips in the UK. Oldhams serves some of the best fish and chips I've had in a very long time. It is so good, I had to go not once but twice while in Westcliff. Fish and Chips is iconically British for me and when done well, it's a cornerstone of British Food Culture. There is something so special about fish and chips done well! Three cheers to Oldhams for an incredible fish and chip meal. My fish had an absolutely fantastic crunchy batter. The cod was perfectly cooked, flaky and moist. Seeing each meal made to order with consistent quality is so wonderful to see. You all should really be proud of the excellent quality meals you provide for the community. The chips that were a perfect thickness, soft and fluffy inside. The chef and staff at Oldhams are incredibly friendly and made me feel very welcomed. Oldhams will be on the top of my list every time I make a visit...

Staff very helpful with food allergies and water for assistance dog. Note that there are no accessible toilets if you are a wheelchair user. Fish and chips are scrumptious. They do a great £11 lunchtime deal eat in. On Mondays after 5 pm, excluding bank holidays, there's a buy one get one free meal deal. This is one of the very few places I can get fish in batter that's maize-free because of allergy to maize/corn. I think they will do a gluten-free batter on request. The actress, Joan Rivers, once dined here and said the food was wonderful. It's close to the Palace Theatre.

Note: do NOT park in the loading bays outside because you risk a parking ticket even if you are a blue badge holder! You can park in Brightwell Avenue or Hainault Avenue nearby free or top of Valkyrie Road with no parking restrictions. Hope this helps. Lots of bus...

Really lovely fish & chips, with myriad extras on the menu. Oldhams also do a range of meals in addition to fish, some of which are vegetarian. Starters and desserts are available and a very good drinks menu gives you a range of hot, cold, soft and alcoholic beverages to choose from.

The staff are excellent; friendly, efficient, welcoming, thoughtful, chatty... Thankfully the food lives up to the standards set by the service: the pork rib starter was marvellously tender and flavoursome whilst the haddock, chips, peas and gravy were beautifully cooked, fresh, crispy, not oily, well presented and very hard to fault.

Takeaway or dine in are both available. Payment is be either cash out cards.
