DJ's Fish & Chips — Restaurant in England

On holiday at nearby caravan park closest chippy so stopped here, there was a massive queue outside which I thought was a good sign. We waited an age for the worst fish and chips I’ve ever tasted. The small cod at £5.65 was much much smaller than expected so small it’s barely big enough for a child’s portion in addition to which the batter was really greasy and thin, overall it was totally tasteless. I ordered a large chips to share amongst 2 adults and a child, glad I went for the larger size as there was barely enough to feed three and definitely not enough if you’re hungry I do not recommend at all, overpriced horrible food EDIT Thank you for your reply. My review was based on food I’ve had from similar establishments. The fish looked liked a piece of frozen fish that had been bought from the supermarket, the size, sorry WEIGHT. Would not have been an issue if it actually looked like a piece of fish in batter rather than a flat triangle of fish that had been sat around in a freezer for a few years, the batter was thin and stuck to the paper, the fish was tasteless, mentioned in my previous review but not addressed! Like I said For the price Ive paid in other establishments i expected potion sizes fit for a king, but I suppose you’re milking the market you have and as I would imagine most of your customers are people on holiday you don't care cos it’s unlikely they’ll be back As for asking about portion sizes having waited in a queue for 30+ minutes just to order the food that was the last thing on my mind but hindsight is a wonderful thing, but having accurate pictures that reflect what your food actually looks like would go a long way too Reviews are meant to provide a guide for other people. So i usually go to a fish & chip shop up in Churston and was on my way there this evening, however i needed to stop at the co-op up by the waterside inn first. Thats when I noticed this place (never seen it before so I'm assuming its new? looked pretty new tbh). Rather than jumping back in the car and driving up to Churston, i figured i would give this place a shot, with it being pretty much next door to co-op.

Truthfully.... I wont go anywhere else from now on!! Food is incredible, service is spot on, they even give you a little alarm to take away with you after ordering which beeps when your order is ready.. Just means you can go sit back in your car, or pop to the shop and not have to worry about missing your order number being shouted out! I know they do these little devices in restaurants, but not seen them in a take out before. Class little touch!!👌

There is one thing i will say thats a slight negative and thats the price £££.. Its much more pricier than others out there, but i guess you pay for quality. So as a whole, the positives most certainly outweigh the negatives!!

For the record, i NEVER leave reviews.. I just felt the urge to give credit where credit is due...

Made the mistake of going twice now. Both times, my husband has been unwell after eating here! We thought it was a coincidence the first time, but after twice, definitely a connection.

The fist visit, 3 of us had cod and chips. The chips were ok on this occasion, I've had worse. The fish seemed overcooked, and the batter was somehow burnt underneath. Put it down to us getting there late, as they were closing 10 minutes before we arrived. The next day, my husband was ill, he can get sick easily if something is off or to greasy etc. But we just thought it was the grease, as the other 2 of us were ok.

The second time, my husband chose to go, as we'd finished work late and had not eaten all day!!!

What a mistake! I could barely eat any of it, it tasted so bad. Never had chips so bad I could not eat even one. Husband ate his, but didn't enjoy it. He has been up all night feeling sick and with a fever!
