Unfortunately, really not impressed.
We'd booked for our wedding anniversary, after not visiting for a while. Looking forward to our normal starters and mains, however,,,,,,
Arrived and directed by finger point where our table was which we found odd, not to be shown to our table. Would almost say rude.
We had Ribs (lovely), calamari (chewy) and tomato based garlic bread which was swimming in really watery tomato juice.
Our mains didnt impress either, the penne supreme had barely any meat and the sauce was just too runny and bland. My wife had lasagne which was again watery and tasteless. She maybe ate a quarter of it before stopping. I ate maybe half before saying enough was enough. We told the waitress our thoughts and she replied "oh, ok".
For the price people pay in there, you'd expect better, especially from a restaurant with such a good reputation. We were really looking forward to last night, but unfortunately, it seems, in our opinion, not what it used to be.
Normally we tip very well, but half an hour from our plates being taken still no question of a drink we decided to leave and have the service charge removed. We've never done this before, as I say, we would normally tip on top of a service charge with some cash. The lack of interaction and below normal standard food meant we were not willing.
People still love the place, this is merely OUR opinion of the food and...
Read moreGot seated in our table and ordered drink straight away. Ordered our starters and waited 30 minutes, whilst people had their mains and starters delivered.
Starters arrived. Arancini for me and boneless chicken wings for my wife. Both were cold, I ate the arancini as not offensive if cold but the wife didn’t eat hers. Didn’t make a fuss, just asked if we could move onto mains.
Waitress came back and said “we’ve taken your dish back to the kitchen, and felt it, it wasn’t cold. But we’ll do you a favour and take it off the bill anyway.”
My wife doesn’t normally argue but is 8 months pregnant, protested it was stone cold.
I asked why it was necessary for her to come and say that. Rather than just letting it pass. She maintained they had felt it and it was fine. She suggested we “agree to disagree.” But why did we have to disagree in the first place?
I said, fine leave it. We’ll pay for what we have had and we’ll leave. The manager/ owner took our payment and again tried to argue with us whilst maintaining “I don’t want to argue, but…”
So was very disappointed as my arancini was absolutely delightful and was looking forward to the rest of the food. Great selection of drinks and fantastic menu...
Read moreMe and my Wife stumbled across Donatello's Pizzeria by chance after we'd finished our shopping trip to IKEA. There's plenty of fast food chain restaurants in the surrounding area but you'd be wasting your money by going to one of those.
Take a trip to Donatello's Pizzeria instead where you'll be treated to some amazing food and very attentive staff.
Me and my wife had between us the following:- Starters Pollo Arrabiata Costolette Donatello Picante Garlic Pizza Bread (v)
Mains Spaghetti Carbonara Pollo alla Crema
All the dishes were cooked to perfection and oozed flavour. The ribs that I had to start are some of the best I've ever had, they were so succulent and fell off the bone. They had the most flavoursome sauce, a warm rich, sweet and sticky sauce that made my palette fizz.
I could go into detail of every course but I won't bore you. Just look at the pics and the next time you're in Warrington (we'll actually be heading directly to Donatello's in the near future) and feeling peckish, head straight to Donatello's, you won't be disappointed unless you're a right...
