Durham Ox — Restaurant in England

We stopped off on Northallerton and called in to get food, we had from the start new inexperienced staff who left to fend for themselves whole the manageress was sat on the other side of the bar, waiting 20 to refill the coke, ordered food and paid and then only brought 1 meal and said that was what we ordered, my partner was eating while I waited after 10 minutes of waiting, she found something in the food so she couldn't continue and I cancelled my food and asked for a refund for my food. The young lad got the manageress who then accused us of putting the item in the food even though we never asked fir a refund for my partners food. Just my own which I didn't even receive. We had my husband and I, our 3 children, my auntie and uncle and their dog. We tried the durham ox as just needed somewhere dog friendly and served food, we were just expecting pub grub but my goodness the food was AMAZING!! I can't highly recommend the food enough it was delicious. The kids chicken nuggets and chips were beautifully cooked with fresh ingredients and we both had the crying tiger and it was delicious still pink in the middle. It was restaurant quality food in a pub. The prices as well make it very affordable, the kids meals were £4.99, adult meals £10.99 and the salt and pepper chips were £3. And so - Myself and my Wife found ourselves “out on a limb” - Christmas Day- Our two Daughters had other plans. To avoid being on our own on Christmas Day, we booked ourselves into a nearby hotel with our beloved Cindy (Cocker Spaniel). And so Christmas Day came and we arrived at the Durham Ox to a simply Fantastic Welcome - Complimentary Whiskey or Baileys. The day just got better !! Every stranger was a friend we just hadn’t met. The range and quality of drinks simply brilliant. The food “to die for” !!
