We decided to have a cheeky brunch at Esquires in Leicester city centre and we certainly won’t be returning! The venue itself is great, you can’t park anywhere near though, so some walking is required. It looks great inside, but you order at the bar downstairs; both food and drink, then you have to carry your own drinks up lots of stairs to the seating area. They do bring food to you, so I was disappointed that they don’t deliver the drinks; especially given they are quite expensive! We had an orange juice, a latte and 2 Full English breakfasts and that came to £35.35, which I thought was quite expensive for a luke-warm breakfast and drinks that were cold by the time the food arrived (well the latte at least). The food didn’t taste too bad, but as mentioned, it was not hot. There were used plates left on the tables throughout our visit and even though the staff came and went frequently, not one of them picked up the dirty dishes. I may be a bit fussy, but this demonstrates really poor service to me. I won’t be returning!

Lovely decor, plenty of seats, coffee was really good, just the food i ordered (a bagel) didn't seem to be fresh. And 18 pounds for 2 drinks and a stale bagel was a bit overpriced

Coffee was a bit dark for my preference but tasty anyway. We also had some nice cakes and milkshakes for the kids which were expensive but greatly enjoyed!

Ordered and paid, only to be informed after paying that the item we chose wasn’t actually available. Not a big deal - these things happen. We picked something else instead. We had also ordered an extra side of poached eggs, which never arrived with the rest of the food. When they were finally brought out, there wasn’t even an apology. The waitress just dropped them on the table silently, even after I said thank you. No acknowledgment, no smile - nothing. I get that it’s just a café, but basic customer service shouldn’t be optional. It’s a lovely spot and we live nearby, so we really wanted to make it our go-to for breakfast. But every time we come in, the service lets the whole place down. If I were to mess up someone’s order once, I’d go out of my way to make sure the rest of the experience was perfect - but the staff just don’t seem to care. To add cherry on top restaurant was empty.

Disappointing. Won’t be...

My family and I, we have been customers to Esquares Coffee for the past 4 years and we enjoy going there. Food and location is great.

The menu is versatile and it changes according to seasons and trends. Our current favourite is Chicken pesto sandwich. If you are not sure what you want the staff is highly trained and will advise you.

Emil who is the manager there loves his job and has passion for customer service and he is focus on training his member of staff. Everyone is very polite and you can see that they enjoy...
