Highcross Shopping Mall is one of Leicesterās premier retail and leisure destinations, offering a vibrant mix of shopping, dining, and entertainment options. Conveniently located in the heart of the city, it caters to a diverse audience, from fashion enthusiasts to food lovers and cinema-goers.
Highcross boasts a vast range of stores, including high-street favourites like Zara, H&M, and JD Sports, alongside premium brands such as Hugo Boss, Jo Malone, and Ted Baker. It strikes a balance between affordable and luxury shopping, making it appealing to various budgets. The layout is spacious, with clear signage and wide aisles, ensuring a hassle-free shopping experience even during peak hours.
The addition of a John Lewis & Partners department store elevates the mall, providing a one-stop shop for homeware, fashion, and beauty products. Regular sales and promotions across many stores make it a great spot for bargain hunters, too.
Highcross excels when it comes to dining. From fast food chains like Five Guys and Nandoās to casual sit-down eateries like Billās, Wagamama, and TGI Fridays, thereās something to suit all tastes. The outdoor dining area, particularly in the St. Peterās Square section creates a lively and sociable atmosphere, especially in the evenings.
For those seeking variety, the food court offers a mix of international cuisines, including Thai, Italian, and Middle Eastern options. The quality of food is generally good, and many restaurants provide vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options.
The Showcase Cinema de Lux is a highlight of Highcross, offering an exceptional cinematic experience with reclining seats and premium screens. Itās perfect for a date night or family outing after a day of shopping. The proximity of the cinema to restaurants makes it easy to plan an entire evening within the building.
Highcross is easily accessible via public transport and offers ample parking, although the rates can be a bit steep for extended stays. The mall is wheelchair-friendly, with elevators and accessible restrooms available. Baby-changing facilities and quiet spaces for families enhance the convenience of visitors with children.
The mall is well-maintained, with a modern design that feels welcoming and stylish. Seasonal decorations, particularly during Christmas, transform the space into a festive hub. Staff in stores and the mallās customer service are generally friendly and helpful.
While Highcross has much to offer, it can get crowded, especially on weekends and during holidays. Some visitors may find parking charges high compared to other shopping destinations in the region. Additionally, a few empty units in recent years have slightly impacted the mallās vibrancy.
Highcross Shopping Mall is a cornerstone of Leicesterās retail scene, offering a diverse and enjoyable shopping, dining, and entertainment experience. Itās a must-visit for both locals and tourists looking for a comprehensive day out. Despite minor drawbacks, its strengths far outweigh any negatives, making it one of the top shopping destinations in the...

Parking charges needs to be addressed, but as a shopping centre, this place has it all. From major brands, eateries, access, space, selection and variety, Highcross Leicester is a clean, friendly place to meet up, shop until you drop, or just to browse for ideas!
There are couple of places to officially park for this shopping centre, one of which I usually choose is the John Lewis multi-storey car park. All bays are a great size, well marked out and have pedestrian designated pathways around it. Over a hundred disabled bays and many family bays means you'll have no excuse to park! Even if you can't find a designated specialist bay, they are so vast in size, you might not even need one!
The charges are vast too: £3.50 for two hours at the time of review. This goes up to £5.50 beyond two hours, but check your ticket time on entry, as sometimes we've noticed around daylight saving time, they're not always updated in a timely manner. This may have already been addressed as we haven't had it happen to us this year (2018).
There are lifts in the car park for all levels, with a walkway bridge to John Lewis and the shopping centre on level 3.
The shopping centre has a huge vaulted ceiling, flooding the centre with natural light and a sense of grandeur about it, especially being filled with big brand retailers and smaller pop-up style venues dotted about. There are a lot of eateries around, so check out the information boards by the entrances and within for where shops are, but also bear in mind Highcross Leicester also contains shops outside of the main undercover centre too!
This clean, buzzing shopping centre serves the area well, but I dare say people are put off from the high parking charges, but I understand that there may be workers in the vicinity that could take advantage of cheaper prices should they be introduced.
It's cheaper to park after 5.30pm, with a fixed fee, so if you're not interested in day shopping and the stores you're interested in have late closing times, then I'd suggest visit after 5.30 to get value for money on parking, aside from missing rush hour traffic too on exit!
Highcross is a vast shopping experience that will cater for most, but consider a later shopping...
