What a wonderful surprise at Fancy’s Kitchen. The restaurant, tucked away down a small side alley in Liskeard, offers undoubtedly the best fried chicken I’ve ever had in Cornwall.
The relatively small menu is expertly executed by just two employees: the head of house, who warmly greeted us and kept us entertained with engaging conversation, and Fancy, the cook. Fancy’s skill and care are apparent. She prepares everything fresh, makes all her own breading, sauces, and pickles, and even bakes her own bread. The only exception is the lettuce, which admittedly is not homemade.
I ordered the Phoenix burger, and my partner had the Korean boneless thigh. From the first bite, the crunch of the breading was so impressive it felt like the walls shook. This delightful texture was followed by a torrent of flavour, with each bite offering something new. The chicken itself was tender and moist, the bread light, and the toppings full of flavour. We chose “sizzling” for the level of spice, which was perfect for both of us (we do quite like hot food - those with an aversion to spice should instead opt for level 1 or 2). The portions were generous, and the freshness of the ingredients apparent.
As a coffee enthusiast, I got to sample two different coffees, both of which were much better than the coffee I usually drink. And true to the owner’s word, I spent the rest of the afternoon bouncing off the walls from the caffeine.
This restaurant truly is a must-visit for anyone looking for new food in Cornwall. With excellent food, hosting, and very reasonable pricing, I will certainly be back for more of Cornwall’s best...
Read moreLast customers of the day, we arrived at a pristinely cleaned restaurant, which if I am honest I mistook for someone's home at first.... But we shown to a seat and ordered, far to much food. Which seems to be a thing we do when we eat out.
No one had any complaints about the very attentive and friendly service we received. The food was plentiful and fresh, all home made. Due to the amount we ordered, again I stress we go hard when we eat out, the food did take some time to prepare and cook. There is only one chef (Fancy herself) and server.
What followed was a banquet of decadence.
The burgers are amazing, I can not recommend the Korean fusion red, sweet and sour, with a high heat, enough. I wanted another one straight away.
It kinda made the chips and breaded chicken portions we also ordered redundant.
Speaking of the chips, they are triple cooked so have a great crunch to them, personally I enjoy a much thicker chip with that style of cooking, but they are enjoyable.
The breaded chicken portions we had are crunchy. I found the phoenix a bit on the salty side, but they all had an enjoyable crunch.
I do recommend this restaurant, it's both charming, amusing and tasty. The fusion concept really works.
So it now enjoys a a privilege status of being added to regular list.
But this time I am just going to have two burgers,...
Read moreWhat an amazing experience this place is, and i’m merely talking about the entrance of the establishment so far. The warm friendly reception was overwhelming, only to be topped by Fancy’s top shelf, mouth watering chicken dishes. Junk food, with all respect, never tasted this divine!
Get in, treat yourself, order everything and then some, and some more. Only regret i was left with afterwards, was the fact that we’ve all have been eating absolutely satisfying amounts and yet found ourselves thinking why we didn’t order more.
We all make mistakes in life, but Fancy’s is defo gonna be around long enough for you to right your wrongs the next time you’ll have look at the menu and decide what amount of juicy love infused chicken your craving heart needs!
Choose life, choose Fancy chicken.
Deep bow to the Fancy’s crew for putting the chi chi- chicki boom in the 🍗
Much ❤️ keep up...
