Grandstand — Restaurant in England

Went for a meal today (17/09/2023) and left very disappointed - neither meal was correct or cooked well. We ordered 2x southern fried chicken skewers with 2x sides each (1x chips and onion rings, 1x sweet potato fries and onion rings). We were told the southern fried chicken was out of stock (understandable and no issue) so ordered crispy strips instead. We were then notified at our table a little later that the sweet potato fries were also out of stock so I ordered normal fries. Our food arrived quickly but (as mentioned above) neither was correct. We had standard chicken skewers (not the chicken strips), my husbands onion rings were really soft/soggy and I was missing mine. We were in conversation when the food arrived and didn't notice till we looked down and started to eat. I did try and flag the staff down twice in the first 10mins but to no avail. I tried a piece of the chicken but it was very rubbery so I left both my skewers and ate half the chips. My husband (who's not a fan of leaving any food and usually clears his plate) left half his meal. Our drinks (an IPA and a diet coke/Pepsi) were correct.

On leaving we did pass a staff member who thanked us for coming and said "See you soon" to which I replied "No, sadly not". Neither of us continued the conversation and we left. I'm aware I could have mentioned the issues above but as we'd already left our table, it seemed a little pointless.

We may have caught them on a bad day but as this is our second consecutive visit where we had issues, we won't...

Visited on a Sunday, 4 adults, 2 children - no roasts being served due to broken equipment or something (fair enough). Typically of a chain restaurant, the menu looked amazing, sooo much to choose from yet it never lives up to the expectation, the impression is the chefs do not care for what they are serving you. My partner tried to order 4/5 different mains to be told they weren’t available due to not having the ingredients?! For my 2 year old, we ordered roast chicken, mash & carrots - had no carrots or mash?! So ordered it with salad, which consisted of: cucumbers and… CARROTS. Although the carrot sticks were that old they’d gone dry and shrivelled up. He wouldn’t of eaten them so left it. I had a mini mixed grill - the chicken was nothing better than awful, fatty and rubbery, and 4 pieces of it. Cheap poor quality ingredients. The sausages had the texture of carpet, unbelievably dry. A few other niggly things from our friends but nothing I feel enough to complain about. I’m not one for leaving negative reviews but kicking myself for not saying anything whilst we were there. I am going to be honnest with my review

The staff 5* cant fault them helpful and friendly

The place its self very cosy and nicely decorated

Bad points we had our meal and all we could hear was people shouting in the bar side now we have kids and this created an anxious enviroment for them this was a concern for us we didnt order desert as we thought it best to leave

The food looked lovely only thing i will say is my lasagne wasnt hot it was warm

I think there is room for improvement i think some consideration to the bar area and restaurant should be looked into maybe a dividing wall to the bar section it would make familys feel at eaze this is based on my experience and i wasnt happy

But please visit yourself and see what you think this is my opinion and not based on others

As for now we wont be returning anytime soon
