Where do I begin? Being a foodie myself and my other half also being the same, I knew Gurkha Fire was going to be a flavour bonanza from the start! So, due to lack of Uber’s in the area, we were a little late! I was worried it was going to be busy, so I phoned to make them aware and the lady on the phone (cant remember the name!) was so sweet and kind and told me not to worry! A great sign for a newly opened place! Even before entering the restaurant, the smells were (and Im not exaggerating here, INCREDIBLE). This was going to be good! Upon entering the restaurant, we were greeted by the most friendly and genuinely kind staff I have seen in a long time! These people look like they do love their job! We were seated at our table and introduced to our waitress for the evening (again cannot remember her name, sorry 🥺) and, after grabbing some starters (Poppadoms with FRESH HOMEMADE SAUCES - The Fire Sauce is the way to go if you like spice! And the Mint and Coriander was refreshing and beautiful) and drinks for the evening, started to read through the menu. The menu in itself requires its own section here! The extensive but not overwhelming options on the menu all sound superb! I wish my stomach could have fit more in! What makes this menu so special is the personal touches to it. It is not just a standard you get what you get menu. Oh no, this menu is filled with all little messages and descriptions that will make you chuckle and really make you feel like the food is not just normal food. The owner even came over and introduced himself and spoke to us about the menu! To have that personal touch and feel around the restaurant just helped with the accommodating experience! The menu was also filled with “Orange Boxed” Meals which were ones that they hope to encourage you to try and, all I will say is, you will NOT be disappointed if you try any of them! We had to have a plethora, and that is what we did, ranging from the Mutton Katiya (a recommended) all the way to the Mixed Grill. We added some sides and cannot recommend the Palak Chaat enough! My other half, who is not a man of eating anything off of the bone, but the smells and menu had tempted him to a mixed grill and, I will say now. The most beautiful meat ever grilled made its way onto his plate and, of course, into his mouth. The meat absolutely just fell off of the bone and, by the end of it, he was chewing away, trying to gain every bit of tender meat ever cooked. Even bits of chicken fell off of the bone as he picked it up! HOW BEAUTIFUL IS THAT?! By the end of our mains we were already so full but dessert also had to be done! And to see the dessert menus with items from Local Businesses, it is clear this restaurant (and the people who run it) really do care about the community! To finalise this review, I, again, want to praise all of the staff and Chefs within this restaurant, they were all so attentive and welcoming throughout this whole experience and, quite frankly, produced some of the most amazing meals I have ever had! However, I will say one thing to improve - THE CHEF NEEDS TO BOTTLE THE FIRE SAUCE - IT WAS BEAUTIFUL! Thank you all for an amazing experience and we will definitely be dining here again, COULD NOT RECOMMEND ENOUGH!

Wow. Just wow. Gurkha Fire is hands down the BEST Nepali/Indian hybrid restaurant I’ve ever experienced (and trust me, I’ve had plenty). If you’re debating where to eat, stop because this is the place! The food is incredible and perfectly portioned. You can tell the chefs truly care about their craft. The service was equally impressive, with our waiter being attentive from start to finish. I tried a variety of starters perfect for sharing. My favourite was the paneer tikka, chargrilled to perfection. The samosa chaat is another must-try. I also had the vegan momos, which were flavourful with a gingery kick, but I wouldn’t get them again. If you love ginger though, go for it. The fire wings were delicious but incredibly spicy. Even my mum, who handles spice well, found them intense. If you love very spicy food, these wings are for you. For mains, the palak chicken was my top pick. It was creamy and something I would definitely get again. The gurkhali fire lamb was another standout with its rich, deep flavour, and the paneer tikka masala was just as good. For dessert, I had the chocolate fondant cake with ice cream and frozen raspberries. The cake was rich and gooey with melted chocolate in the centre, while the frozen raspberries added a sharp, crunchy contrast that elevated the dish. The mango lassi was amazing, like mango kefir but sweeter and even better. The naan and tandoori roti were cooked to perfection, not too doughy and just right. Overall, I highly recommend Gurkha Fire. I’ve tried many South Asian restaurants and usually leave disappointed, but this place left me feeling happy and satisfied. They even asked for feedback during our visit, showing their commitment to great service. Honestly, I wouldn’t change a thing. Everything was flawless, 10/10 and I will definitely be coming back.

We went to this place for the first time. First of all the atmosphere is brilliant. Place was super clean. From the moment we enter till we come out from the restaurant, the service we received from the staff is phenomenal apart from tiny misinformation issues about the food. I've got a biriyani, prawn dilwala, calamari, garlic chicken wings. The garlic chicken wings is an absolute banger. It tastes soo good. Chicken was fried and coated in the sauce to meet the ideal taste. However Biriyani, I've asked from the Waitress whether a single biriyani is enough for 2 people and she said it is more than enough. But the biriyani is way too small for 2 people and it is enough only for one person. And also I must say that it is not the best Biriyani I've tried around gillingham, chatham. There are few other places serves way better biryani than here. The calamari dish is too sweet. It would be better if it is spicy than sweet since the sweetness is cutting off the taste of calamari. I personally think that It will be better if they could replace the existing calamari starter with a "hot butter cuttlefish" dish. Prawn dilwala is really good I must say. It is literally the butter chicken but with prawns apart from chicken. It was soo creamy and had a nice texture. But 14 pounds for that dish is not worth at all. Even Though the place is really good, I feel like almost all the dishes are overpriced when compares with the portion size. Apart from garlic chicken, all the other dishes are not good in portion size. Overall the atmosphere is great, food I give a medium rating due to the portion size, price and taste but the presentation of the food when serve is top notch. Service from the service staff is brilliant. Even Though I didn't had a wow about the food, the owner and head chef both visited all the customers and greeted personally which I highly appreciate and quite unique gesture.

WOW!!!! WOW!!!! WOW!!!! The best Nepalese food we have ever tasted and the hospitality was just absolutely unbelievable!! ❤️ I can honestly say this must be one of the best restaurants we have ever visited and it’s in Medway (on our doorstep) The vibe here last night with the live singer was something else. I will do a separate reel so he can be heard, as he deserves it with that voice 😍 He was unbelievable too. The food was just simply amazing and we said to the chef that we thought it was even better than Dishoom in London, to then find out 2 of the chefs used to work there!! The owners (managers and chef), even came to our table to speak to us to see how we were getting on, it was service like no other, from the bar staff to the Waitresses especially TALLULAH who served us, who is absolutely amazing and a credit to Gurkha Fire 🥰, the chefs and the managers. 😍 I still cannot get over it. The meat just melted off the bone and the starters OMG!!! In my husbands words you can taste the love that went into the food ❤️🥰 I wish we had time for dessert too, next time we will go earlier, as we were the last ones left 🫣😅 The whole restaurant feels like somewhere expensive in London and it is decorated with amazing features from Nepal!!! Every little detail was just fantastic!!!! These guys have really pulled it off here and they deserve every bit of recognition!!! This place is going to be so popular!! ❤️ This is an honest review from 2 foodies who have visited 100s of restaurants!! Still blown away from our visit!!!

I recently visited Chatham and was pleasantly surprised to come across Gurkha Fire, an authentic Nepalese restaurant set in a charming old fire station. As someone who isn’t local to the area, finding a spot like this was a welcome surprise. Being a big meat eater, I wasn’t sure what to expect from the vegetable dishes, but I have to say they were incredibly satisfying. The Palak Chaat was a standout, with crispy layers topped with chickpea curry, tangy chutneys, and fresh pomegranate seeds adding a burst of sweetness. The Govi Manchurian, a cauliflower-based dish, was unexpectedly delicious. It was full of flavor, perfectly spiced, and satisfying in a way I didn’t anticipate. That said, the meat dishes did not disappoint either. The Fire Wings were exactly what I hoped for—crispy, tender with a lot of spice (you've been warned) and a depth of flavor that made them hard to resist. Each dish was well thought out, and it’s clear the kitchen takes pride in both their meat and vegetable offerings. To top off the experience, there was live music from Tesni Jones (from The Voice), which added a lovely, relaxed atmosphere to the evening. Overall, my night at Gurkha Fire was fantastic. The combination of good food, thoughtful service, and a unique setting made it a memorable evening. I’d definitely recommend it to anyone passing through Chatham or even locals looking for something to do at the weekend.

A fab-u-lous addition to the restaurant scene in Chatham town centre. From the moment you enter, you are given a warm welcome from the staff. The restaurant is deceptively large with a separate bar/lounge area and dining on the ground floor and more dining on the first floor. Design is utilitarian, post industrial. The food is a-maz-ing. Great choice for vegetarians/vegans. Service is friendly (a special shout out to our server Shikha) and our selection of dishes was served after a short wait. I can personally recommend the Govi Manchurian, the vegan Momo, the mango & goat's cheese salad, house black daal, the paneer tikka masala and the star of the show, the vegan palak chaat. The staff are warm, friendly and welcoming and they actively request feedback from customers. Nearest parking is less than 100 metres away. Bus stops and railway station are probs less than 50 metres away. Highly recommended and I'm already looking forward to visiting again! Booking is definitely advised.
