Newly refurbished and reopened. Joseph Holt brewery have invested 2 million in this historical old pub and brought it back to life. More of a gastro pub now, the menu has both traditional modern choices. There's several vegetarian options on offer too. I liked the decor, quite traditional with photos relating to the history of Joseph Holt brewery. Plenty of seating indoors and out. There's a wee slide for the kiddies... And there is a kids menu indoors too. The only bit I didn't like. Was the copious amounts of gravel outside, right at the bottom of the ramp presumably there for disabled access. Clearly whoever put the gravel there hasn't tried pushing or pulling a wheelchair through that. I haven't either but I think I would grind to an instant halt. It's also already spreading about untidily. Would definitely recommend. Main menu is served until 9pm or the Pizza menu till 10pm. It's quite busy at the moment and the staff are still finding their way round but it was all very pleasant and enjoyable. Were looking forward to a return visit next week. With some friends and then later again with family. Please note... There is a car park which can be used whilst in the pub...but you must enter your car registration number in a console at the bar. Ask staff if you can't see it. Edit: I believe the gravel path was temporary and has already been tarmacked over

Disregard any review before September 2019 this pub as had a major rebuild and extention it is prity much a brand new pub we visited on opening day 24th September we had a few access problems due to the entrance paths having no been laid in time and as a temp measure gravel being put down (heavy wheelchairs and gravel don't work ) but the manager Paul went out of his way to get us in and back out again and was very apologetic saying the path will be sorted in a week, I've never been in a Joseph Holt pub before but I look forward to trying all their beers in the future, the beer I pick was a cask larger called mayor it went down well! we had chips and pizza , the pizza are made fresh you could even watch yours being made if you wanted to I'm sure kids will love that who knows maybe they will have kids pizza making party's one day .. the chips were poor I would say triple cooked chips would be a better way to go these ones seam to be frozen under cooked oven chips and cheap ones at that I hope they change them soon all in all a nice pub friendly staff just a few teathing problems that im sure will get ironed out in the coming weeks glad to have somthing other than a green king to visit in blackpool

Recently my husband & myself visited the newly re-furbished Halfway House, Blackpool where we ordered food & several bottles of champagne during our evening. Everything was going well with friends & neighbour's we hadn't seen in a long time, when, unfortunately, my husband discovered that whilst we were eating our meal, customer's with 2 dogs, who had recently left, had also left a huge amount of dog vomit on the floor right next to where my husband was sitting!!! We both asked members of staff (several times) to please come & clean this most vile mess up but no-one was willing to do so, but worst of all, we approached the Manager, Paul, we believe to be his name & he refused point blank to do anything about it!!! Due to this happening we could no longer continue with our meal as the vomit was beside us for at least 10 minutes which is totally unacceptable!!! Eventually after my husband & myself persistently asked staff for help, the Manager came over to our table with "Blue Roll" & handed this to our neighbour's & I quote, said, " It's the dog owner's responsibility for there dog, he should clean it up!" We were again disgusted as even though our neighbour's had a dog with them it was not there dog who had done this disgusting accident but because our neighbour was put on the spot, he was willing to clean the mess up!!! We stopped him from doing this & told the Manager he was wrong to ask this man to do this & he therefore should bring the correct cleaning equipment out to do the job properly!!! Very reluctantly, he did but only with a brush & pan & he didn't mop/bleach the floor afterwards!!! On the night we were offered no apologies or anyway of compensation after such a horrible disruption to what started as a lovely meal. The Manager, Paul disappeared instantly after he kind of cleaned the mess-up!!! We never saw him for the rest of the evening!!! However, after contacting the Joseph Holt Brewery directly, we have since received a generous amount of vouchers from themselves which we are very grateful for. We live nearby & were so pleased to see the turn around of this bar/restaurant but after what we experienced the other night, the thought of going back really turns our stomachs!!! We are thoroughly disappointed with the overall attitude of the Manager, Paul....he has absolutely NO CUSTOMER SERVICE skills whatsoever!!! We can only hope that the Joseph Holt company have taken the appropriate action against this Manager to ensure he is up to speed with his Customer Service Skills!!!

What a disappointment! We had so many visits here snit this was my last . If changes have been made to your products it’s important that you inform your customers not just for allergies but also for general guest satisfaction. We had to send out meals back and order an alternative due to the chicken used in their burgers being completely different from the usual product (the texture, look and taste). We opened for the beef burger instead after requesting a new meal, only to receive ‘punishment on a plate’ in the form of a burger that was significantly over cooked, badly presented and that’s before we get to how the situation was handled. Granted the young man who assisted us first was understanding, polite and helpful the same cannot he said for the ‘manager’ on duty Paul who had no business being in such a role. As a manager it is your a duty to ensure customer satisfaction as appose to avoiding eye contact and approaching every other table to see show their experience was going (yep we watched you speak with atleast 3 tables before you lowered your eyes and scurried past us). Once we got Paul’s attention it was clear to see why we didn’t want to communicate, he has no idea how to. Granted we were issued a full refund and promptly took ourself to Nandos - the whole situation could have been avoided had you just taken ownership instead of saying ‘well the chef hasn’t noticed a change’ if he can’t tell the different between Butter Chicken Burger & Garlic & Herb maybe you need a new chef (and a new manager).

We went for the friends and family meal today and it was excellent. The starters were wonderful, I ordered the haloumi which was perfect my friend let me taste her mushrooms and they were so cream and just right, not too hard like some places I've been. The main I had a slight problem with as my sweet potato fries were cold and my broccoli was soft but it was very quickly rectified with no issue. So that is great service as far as I'm concerned. The staff are so friendly, especially the lady who served us (we thought her name was Millie, but found out at the end it was Ellie oops sorry) the desert was gorgeous, I love anything chocolate so the chocolate cake and cream were pure joy my friend had the Malteser, salted caramel sundae which her and her 2 year old niece devoured. In all it was fantastic, and I told the assistant manager we will definitely be back. This place used to look extremely down trodden and needed a lot of money investing into it which Holt brewery seems to have done. I think this is a great investment into Blackpool and hope locals and tourists who come off the motorway or from the airport realise it is a great place to eat, drink and chill x

My Wife and I came here for lunch. Coincidentally they had just launched a new menu. We had the small plates for a starter; Frickles, Pakora and Gyoza. They were great and a nice size for a sharing starter for 2 people. I had the fish and chips for main and my wife had the Halloumi grilled sandwich. Total including drinks came to about £35. Some good veggie options, nice decor and a good outside area. UPDATE - We came for dinner on Friday night, the food was still really good, I had braised beef my Wife and Son had the homemade pizza, the service was a little more chaotic as you would expect for a Friday with a bit of confusion over our reserved table and we had to chase up one of the mains (it came right out when we did). Wouldn't take away any stars as they followed up quickly and resolved everything.
