Have visited the Harbour View cafe in Porthlevan many times over the last few years. We’ve always enjoyed breakfasts and lunches there but this year (2024) what a difference
and not for the best . Firstly they can’t do a child’s portion of a cooked breakfast ??? Previous years a crab sandwich with salad fries and a glass of Prosecco was £15
. This year £14 for a crab sandwich which was mostly mayonnaise, a paltry side salad that had seen better days and triangle type crisps . Couldn’t believe it when I saw a Cornish Cream Tea served to a customer with the jam and cream served up in the containers you get at McDonald’s to put your ketchup in . Surely cafes can do better than this
this is ripping people of and making a mockery of a quintessential Cornish Cream Tea . Definitely won’t be using this cafe again and neither will my family if this is the best you...

Nice café with great views of the harbour.

It stands out from the majority of cafĂ©s in Porthleven due to its menu, yes there's the ubiquitous crab sandwich but the menu has a slightly 'northern' feel to it 🙂.

Ham, egg & chips, sausage roll, chips & beans... proper comfort food that smelt and looked delicious, although we didn't eat this time. It also has lots of vegetarian and vegan options which is great to see.

We did have a coffee though, it was excellent...far beyond anything you'd expect outside of a dedicated coffee shop.

Some reviews seem to suggest the staff are unhelpful or rude....they must have the place confused with somewhere else because our experience was nothing but positive.

After a decent coffee and good, honest food,...

The café is under new ownership with the proprietors having been there for just six months. We were driven in by the wind and rain and had few expectations. The two ladies behind the counter were delightful, welcoming and friendly not only to us but to everyone who came in. They provided the warmth the weather outside couldn't! We had the fush chowder which was amazing and delicious being thick and creamy with a dash of cheese, it was super tasty and just the thing on a wild and windy day. We also took a naughty but nice bowl of thick cut chips. Wonderful comfort food with a view over the harbour which us always charming whatever...

We visited this cafĂ© during a morning walk around Porthleven Harbour and were really pleased with the experience. The prices were very reasonable, and the quality of the food stood out. My partner had the full English, which was generous and made with great ingredients – everything was cooked perfectly. I had the porridge with oat milk, which had a lovely texture and flavour, though it was a little on the cold side. Still, it didn’t take away from the overall enjoyment. A cosy spot with friendly service and a nice view – definitely worth a visit!
