Harry's used to be our favourite coffee shop. The ambiance inside is always chilled and cosy and the cakes are 5/5, particularly the Victoria sponge and coffee cake. However, over the last few months we have been let down with disappointing attitudes of the staff members where we often feel like an inconvenience for stopping by as we are met with frosty, disinterested and ingenuine service. There is a passive aggressive sign sarcastically thanking customers for "not tucking chairs" and for ordering "extra hot coffees" which seems to us is just part of everyday hospitality. Lastly, our biggest let down is with the cafe having early weekend closures which are not reflected on google opening times. For example, today we made our way through the rain at 2pm to an 'open sign' and were turned away with the sign reversed to 'closed'. This was 2 hours earlier than their google hours. We witnessed several other customers on other occasions being turned away for hot food and beers approx 1.5-2 hours before closing time. It did make us wonder - what's the point of owning a cafe if you dont enjoy providing hospitality and providing the service that comes with it? We write this review in hopes that the feedback will be taken aboard to restore this cafe to its...
Read moreI have been into this coffee house a few times and I am seriously impressed. It has a lovely atmosphere and the owner is most welcoming. I had not been in for a while but today I came in and felt most welcomed, like there was a recognition that I had been in before. In these days, the ambiance of a place (despite our situation) is really important to me. I want to go somewhere where I can still smile (even though my smile is hidden) and have a rapport with the owner. I get that from this place and once Lockdown is lifted, I will make this my regular coffee go to in Southbourne. Combined with Mark's Meats who greet me by my name, these two businesses a great example of how to entice people to the high street. Well done guys, love what you are doing so much. PS I love the art too on the walls. Bought a lovely piece today. My friend will be...
Read moreI used to visit this cafe when it was owned/managed by a lovely lady who knitted loads of stuff from the cafe, having returned from a few yrs away from the area was sad to see this is no longer the case, but I wanted to give the cafe the chance to show it was still as good... but it was not. When going in I wanted to a snack as well, but nothing heavy and something healthy, so asked if the yogurt and Granola was served all day.. to which the young lady said she did not know, but she would ask her boss when he returned. She suggested I pay for my coffee when I leave dependant on my choice being available ... That was the last she did... I sat, drunk my coffee but no answer to my question was given ... when I went to pay, she asked... " so you decided not to have anything to eat then??? Not great for my 1st visit back to what used to be...
