We attended today for an early dinner after a lovely time over at the riverside hub. Was very disappointed by the service and experience we had at the harvester. We came in at about 4.10pm and it wasn’t very busy and we could see plenty of tables available for the size of party we had but all were covered in dirty plates and food. We waited about 20 mins to still not be seen in by anyone before the people in front of us left as they felt they were waiting too long for a table. After 25 mins we were seen to and sat at a table that was completely inappropriate for our situation as we had a 1 year old with us and were sat by the bar on the raised booth seat which was very dangerous for the child to be sat at. Even with a high chair (which was never offered) he wouldn’t be anywhere near the table to be able to reach. The careless placing of us with a young child clearly visible to what I assume was shift manager was beyond me and with no thought of his safety when dining in their restaurant, as we were shown to the table menus thrown down and told to order via the app before she quickly cleared off. We then asked an employee passing us to move to a more appropriate table and they found and finally cleared a table that was filthy from the moment we arrived until we were moved to sit at that table. We ordered via the app and then waited around 30 mins for our drinks to be brought over as waitress Michelle (who was a saint) came and checked if we had our drinks yet and said the ticket had been chucked but she will sort it out for us. We then waited another 45 mins for the food to come out, was impressed by the food itself can’t fault that. But after as part of the kids meal you get a kids pudding, we asked what looked like shift manager if we could order as the app didn’t include that option and she said she would be back in 2 mins, she then continued to walk past us many of times and serve plenty of other tables and people around us and ignored us. We then asked a second staff member to try and sort this pudding with our 1 year old now getting agitated by being sat nicely at the table for so long and it still wasn’t put through until Michelle came to clear our plates and asked if we had ordered anything else and then sorted the pudding after another long 30 mins wait for ice cream and chocolate sauce. A total stay of nearly 2.30 hours on top of being at riverside hub for 2.30 hours meaning I am now expecting a ticket through in the coming week for being their over 4 hours due to a lengthy wait time for anything in the harvester. Read moreVisited with the wife on Thursday 2nd January for the Breakfast. The worst i have visited for cleanliness and if i wasnt there to complete my review we would not have even say down down to eat! The glass windows and doors were all smudged and the floors had debris all under the tables and on the seats. For a reputable chain you would expect higher standards (see photographs).Every eating establishment should be cleaning after every service. My wife had to place her coat on a bag to avoid the crumbs on the seats! It was obvious and clear that there are no regular cleaning schedules in place! This is poor management and if the public can see it is dirty then so should the management team. If you walk past this kind of clear dirty areas, then this is your standard and you are not leading or driving the cleanliness of your restaurant. The service was very good, and i have to say the food was tasty. We both went for an English breakfast, which was well cooked and good ingredients. I did complain and received an email back from the assistant manager stating that they would ensure the place was cleaned and introduce a rota for cleaning. All the floors were thick with dust and the salt and pepper pots caked in food waste. Under every table there was dirt! Why was this not already in place? Based on this being the dirtiest restaurant visited so far, i will go back in a few weeks to assess the level of cleanliness and see if they have improved. Guys, hang your heads in shame, because this was not acceptable by anyone`s standards. The whole place requires a deep clean and maintenance. So i have completed a return visit on Saturday 18th January to see how the cleaning was and if it has improved. Sadly i have to report, apart from the windows being cleaned it is still filthy and disgusting. The assistant manager assure me she was introducing a cleaning schedule and rota? This has not happened because there is food debris under every table so blatant lying about cleaning and shame on the management team for allowing this to happen, obviously this is your standard and level. We will not be returning to any Harvester ever!! Worst i have visited. dont go here!! Also not professional for staff to be eating behind the counters as you can see and it wasnt just this girl, there...
Read moreWe came to Harvester as the one local to us closed down a few years ago. We've craved the salad bowls ever since. While in the area of Northampton we decided to have tea out after a day at a local theme park . 6 of us in total, 2 adults 4 children age 5-13. I pre booked a table and on arrival we were informed that they were out of rotisserie chicken, chicken strips, breaded mushrooms and halloumi ! That disappointed us straight away as that's what's we'd normally order. Found items off then menu we'd like and that our fussy children would eat and was shocked at the price hike. We had our salad bowls while we waited for our food, which I will say was spot on and as delicious as usual. Fully stocked salad bar too so too marks for that. We did see rotisserie chicken being cooked which puzzled us as to why it was off the menu. Then what seemed like an eternity waiting for our mains with a very hangry children our meals finally arrived . Nothing really to fault here although the chargrilled chicken was a little too chargrilled and my child refused to eat it. Veggie sticks were also missing the peppers! Meals done and puddings were about to be ordered yet no staff were in sight for a good 5/10 minutes, even waited at the bar until one finally came along. Then to our shock we was told the ice cream was out of stock with the brownies!! So the free dessert with the kids menu was only a fruity lolly or fruit bowl and no sundaes for the rest of us to enjoy. Extremely disappointed children once again and by this point we'd had enough. We'd had a long day, we paid for our bill using a welcoming 25% voucher which I'm glad we had after this terrible visit, ordered a fruit lolly and was still waiting for that so we decided to cut our losses and go to McDonald's drive through for McFlurrys all round! Not the best experience and it has put us off coming back unless it's just to order...
