I have really mixed feelings about Tea Leaf. I have been to Tea Leaf around 4/5 times over the past few months and have mainly visited for lunch. I am a big supporter of local and independent businesses and am even very happy to even pay a premium.
However, what I have found is that the quality of the food has significantly decreased over a short period of time. On my first visit I had a fantastic chicken & avocado sandwich on freshly baked bread that was accompanied by a side salad. On my second visit this became just the sandwich without any sides, something I can understand to potentially keep costs lower or reduce waste. On my most recent visit yesterday there was the biggest step down. I had a cheese and chorizo toasted sandwich, this toasted sandwich came in sliced, shop bought bread. Unfortunately, I cannot justify going to a cafe and spending ~£5 on a sandwich that looked like a meal deal.
I want to support this business and use a very local cafe to me (I live in the neighbourhood), however I cannot continue to waste my money on uninspiring and poorly...
Read moreEnjoyed a lazy Sunday morning here. It’s a really pleasant café and the staff were kind and welcoming. The matcha latte here is excellent! Full of flavour and reasonably priced at £3.60 (most other cafés I’ve been to charge £4+). There is an extensive brunch and toastie menu, and we eventually decided on the avo toast (plus poached eggs) and shakshuka. The food portions are generous for the cost, and really delicious. Unfortunately my avo toast wasn’t particularly toasted - but still delicious anyway as it was really good quality bread!! The seasoning was bang on and I didn’t reach for the salt or pepper once. Eggs were poached to perfection 👌🏻 My partner’s shakshuka was good, though the eggs didn’t seem to have been baked in the tomato sauce as is traditional with the dish. It was still delicious, with plenty of toast for dipping and lots of crumbly feta. Overall, a nice spot for a chilled out morning!! It’s dog-friendly, too. We would definitely come back here to try more options from...
Read moreFound this GEM of a cafe during our trip to Brighton. Firstly, the staff made the experience. All the girls were so friendly, kind, professional, and on the ball. The cafe has some nice seating out front. Plenty of seating inside, but even better has a cool little secret garden out back. 10/10 for comfort and atmosphere. Finally, the food and drinks were brilliant. Pastry served with a really generous side salad consisting of leafy greens, quinoa salad, and apple slaw, plus the coffee and iced drinks we had were tasty and decently priced. Thanks for the laughs and the good chat! Looking forward to...
