Firstly, I would like to start off by saying the young man that served us did the best he could under the circumstances and so this review no way reflects him.
The food is really good quality and the price for the amount of food and quality of food is really wow! They also do an offer of 2 for £12 on standard cocktails or 2 for £15 on premium cocktails on a Saturday which is great value for money.
It was very busy when I walked in. Great sign. The manager came up to me and said she'd just be a minute before serving me. Not a problem, I had been acknowledged, fine. She ended up never returning to seat me and eventually a young man came and seated me. Food menus were already on the table but no drinks menus. Trying to get someone to bring me one felt a little like hard work but eventually managed to get one. The young man who was the one who seated me explained about the offer on cocktails and tried to upsell and he was really on point with his sales and customer service skills.
My friends arrived and we had a young lady come and take our orders. To say she seemed unhappy to be there was an understatement. Fair enough though, you can't always be over the top happy, especially when it's busy, I've worked in hospitality I get it. I asked for more time for us to decide on food but she took our drinks order. The cocktails arrived fairly quickly and tasted delicious.
As it was my friends 30th birthday, I had bought a cake and candles and on arrival, had gone to the manager (who i didn't know was the manager at the time) who said that I needed to go give it to another staff member and pointed in the direction so I gave the cake to them and asked to put it in the back and bring it out later. I'd messaged on Facebook asking if it was okay to bring a cake and candles beforehand just to make sure I wasn't imposing.
After our main course, I ordered another cocktail and my friend had ordered a water with ice which both took around 20 minutes to arrive. After this, I went and asked the staff about the cake and would it be possible to bring it out and they said yes. After a while wait the happy birthday music came on, then abruptly stopped ruining any surprise. The cake was then brought out and the music came on half way through. One staff member sang the song (the young guy mentioned at the top of the review) he was really kind and offered to bring plates and a knife and apologised for the sparkler not being lit.
We then asked for the bill. When it arrived, we had ordered 4 cocktails from the 2 for £12 menu but none of them were discounted and all charged at the higher price. I asked them to please amend it and he said he had to wait for his manager to approve it. It took ages for him to come back with the amended bill, only for him to come back with only one set of drinks at the right price. My friends had both used the facilities and there were no loo roll and at this point, I was pretty much over the experience. I went up to the manager and as I walked up she clear as day said "here she comes" she refutes this when i asked her why she said that and instead first claimed she never said anything then said she had said "hi sugar what's the problem?" I'm not sure why she would call me sugar if that was what she had said.. not very professional. She then finally reamended the bill to the correct total which was £15 less.
Overall the service was pretty substandard, we did tip the young lad who tried his best and even he acknowledged the service fell short and apologised. Unfortunately my friend who's birthday it was didn't really enjoy her experience either. We felt as if we had to wait a long time for drinks, or to be acknowledged by staff, the birthday cake experience wasn't great, the bill having to be changed twice and then the rudeness from...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe visited Hectors Pizza & Bar last night and one of the first impressions I had was that the place was definitely brand new, it felt exciting and I liked that there was an option to reserve our tables online or to turn up, we arrived and the waitress asked us if we had reserved our tables. We hadn't but we were still given lovely seats and the menus were already on the table.
The Hectors Pizza & Bar is very much a pizza-based restaurant which did let me down a little bit, normally they have alternatives for those like me who can't handle pizza and they often offer things like lasagne or pasta or anything else. However because family members were keen to check out this place, I thought to give it a go.
For our drinks, we had sparkling Somersby Cider which was from fermented apple juice that was quite fruity and light which is different to the usual Guinness stout ale I have then for starters I had the Mac & Cheese Bites which was nice, I did find that the cheese that was used was a bit on the mild side, and I'd have preferred a stronger cheese to cut through the fried battered balls of pasta. I don't think I'd have added Jalapenos to it though, especially if the cheese was stronger. My partner had the Buttermilk Chicken Bites which were marinated in honey, garlic and parsley, we asked to swap the sriracha buffalo sauce with BBQ as he can't handle spicy food. This went down a treat and he enjoyed the BBQ sauce, it was almost like a rich version of BBQ sauce.
For our main, I had the Cajun Chicken which was with homemade tomato sauce, mozzarella, cajun spiced chicken, red onion, peppers and oregano. I thought this pizza was nice, it tasted fresh and I could taste the oregano and this complimented the chicken. My partner had the Pepperoni Pizza which was with homemade tomato sauce, mozzarella, and pepperoni with basil. He had kept some of the BBQ sauce from the starter and used that as a topping for the pizza. He had said if there was an option for the Pepperoni Pizza to have a BBQ base instead of the tomato it would have been so good.
One of the things I have to say is that the middle centrepieces were a bit too much almost blocking the social interaction, especially for those who are deaf, please do consider removing some of the pieces to make it less overwhelming for customers like myself.
Ultimately, we had a good time for sure, I don't think this restaurant is for me because, I like to have options and most restaurants have that, where the main focus might be a specific food but they often do have alternatives to accommodate other people. This might be a brand-new restaurant who are still figuring the kinks out and whatnot. I did appreciate that they didn't destroy the original building decor as this used to be where Prezzo used to be. The staff here were lovely and I wish the business all the success. Please do consider adding more dishes though but it's a solid three out of five...

Staff was very friendly and nice.
Food was pretty good, i was actually impressed, i used to think that pizza parlour has the best pizza but actually i think Hector's pizza is the one where i had the closest pizza to home made pizza.
It was amazing. We had the tomato and cheese pizza Margherita and it was amazing. Usually a pizza restaurant can't go wrong with this. It always tastes amazing.
The beef pizza with hot peppers and jalapeƱos was SPICY. Amazing just how we love it. So if you want hot they have really good hot peppers.
Chicken wings were hot too and tender. Not overcooked not raw. Perfectly cooked. And tasted really well.
The garlic mayo sauce had actual garlic in it!! You're not getting supermarket mayo garlic, you are getting in house made garlic sauce with pieces of chopped garlic in it.
The chips were better than anywhere I've been, stayed at a 4 star hotel recently and i can comfortably say that the chips were better here. Salted to perfection.
Veggie pizza, which is always my favourite, was amazing. Really light which is why i like it, it doesn't make me feel like i had tons to eat after i finish it unlike meaty pizzas.
Free water that is not from the tap, that was nice. We had some apple juice which was nice...
