1st time at a Hickory's and first impressions were very good venue looked new and stylish and we were instantly greeted by friendly attentive staff. After being seated our waitress introduced herself and took our order promptly. Drinks arrived quickly and our food order was taken i got one of the milkshakes as i was driving which was really nice but very very sweet . Unfortunately this is when it fell down a little, there were 6 of us and 2 of us ordered starters and mains and the other 4 just ordered mains, we waited almost 50 minutes for our 2 starters to arrive which were only nachos and corn dogs. I was told the corn dogs were OK but nothing special and I wasn't a fan of the nachos as they somehow seemed to be soft rather than crunchy which I suspect they had been left on the side somewhere whilst we were waiting. We were literally about half way through our starters and the mains started to arrive, we thought they may just be bringing the other peoples mains who didn't order starters but then our mains were brought out when we were still halfway through out starters which isn't good but tbh I wasn't that impressed with the starter so just pushed it to the side for the mains to be placed down. The staff did see we were still eating our starter when they brought out the mains and wasn't sure what to really do but as we had all now been waiting so long i said it was ok and just put them down. Now I must admit the mains really "pulled" 😉 it back for them as it was amazing i got the big smoke house platter and there was a lot. The sausage was absolutely amazing possibly best I have had, the pulled pork with pitted beans was very tasty although quite sweet but I really liked it. The baby back ribs were nice but nothing amazing but the beef rib was really nice and just fell apart. Chicken wings were quite large and nice and the sauce on them was lovely. The coleslaw tasted like it was made with sour cream rather than mayonnaise and wasnt really to our liking but the pickles were lovely. But the star of the show was the brisket which was fantastic, it just pulled apart with no effort and the rub that was on it was amazing. Everyone else said their mains were really good it was just a shame that the starters wasn't really up to scratch and took so long to arrive. We had also just had a big celebration and the staff went all out and brought us a lovely treat that was really nice and much appreciated. All in all I will deffo go again as the staff were friendly, the mains were very good, venue was nice clean and looked quite trendy. Deffo not the cheapest place to eat but you get what you pay for.

Second visit 26/8/2023. After the great 5 star visit I would review this as a one star. Table booked four weeks in advance arrived to be told table wasn’t ready and to go to the bar for drinks, there were five in our party, we headed to the bar area. A member of staff was then coming and taking people to there tables, in what seemed like no order, after politely waiting for an acceptable time of 20 minutes, we were told our table was being cleaned. Another ten minutes and we were taken to at table which was cleaned and ready but for three. Moved to another table which could accommodate us. Seated at 6:35, now I wasnt clock watching but I expected to be at least seated and ordered by now. Ordered our food and the Smokey bourbon bacon bites had “run out” last Tuesday! Come on nearly a week later and not on the menu. Apart from this the rest of the food was “ok” nothing special. An honest and updated review. £170 for 5 people. Clearly in this occasion there were. Far too many people booked in for them to cope with. Food served on cracked wooden board, which I only noticed after eating.update after a call from the manager a week after the visit I was informed that after you arrive and get drinks from the bar no name is taken when you are taken from the bar area to your table, they just go off your description. An attempt of an apology as they were busy, poor service, not good value for money. Won’t be returning.

Me and my partner went at midday on a sunny Saturday. When we arrived, we were greeted with a friendly manner and shown to our seats. It was quiet inside, as a few people had already made their way outside. You can choose to sit in or out. The server quickly took our drinks order, there is a good choice of cocktails, draught, bottled and soft drinks, as well as milkshakes. We chose for two pints, which were clean, cold and crisp. One glance at the menu and we chose the sharing platter for two. Safe to say a good choice for our first visit. The food came quickly (15 mins?), as it was quiet, and wow were we blown away. There was a wide choice of sauces available, we chose jalapeno mustard ( which was lovely) and classic mayo. My partner and I quickly devoured what we could of the platter. We are big foodies and couldn't quite manage everything, but the food was so good. Tender fall off the bone ribs, juicy jalapeno and cheese sausages, beautiful pulled pork beans, fiery pickles, delicious coleslaw. That's just a selection of what's on the platter, you've got to try it for yourself! I expect at busier times, food is a longer wait, but I wouldn't fret - this is well worth waiting for! It's not cheap, but it is worth every penny for a treat. Unfortunately, as it was so good, the missus wants to come again next weekend!!! I'll have to try and take her mind of it for now!

In August 2020, we visited the branch in Shrewsbury, and we loved it so much that we decided we would come back. And so here we are in July 2021 in Cheshire just to refeel the atmosphere this place emits. Just like the year before, we went for The Smokehouse Platter. Yes it is expensive, but it is the best value item on the menu by far, and it is also the best food item on the menu without a doubt! Complimentry water & popcorn is available before we ordered. The experience was the same, or perhaps even better! The dog under our table was very intrigued in what we were eating, and who could blame her! It was delicious as an understatement! We love Hickory's! So much so that we from our holiday cottage in Blidworth, Nottinghamshire, we had to make a day trip of it, going on a three hour journey through The Peaks just to eat here, only to find out a few weeks later that a new one had opened just five miles from where we were staying!!! But in short, if you are in the area and want some of the best beef you've ever tasted, then go to Hickory's. You will not regret it!

I've been frequenting Hickory's since they opened in Chester (around 2013) and I have to say on this visit that the food is the best it's ever been! I shared the giant cheesy pretzel to start and it was outstanding. Soft fluffy dough surrounded by the classic chewy outer crust smothered in garlic butter and a strong cheese was just the start we needed. Followed by the 3am Mac & Cheese, the pulled pork and a side of poutine tater tots. Everything was cooked to perfection. The stand out though has to be the poutine tater tots which were delicious. We washed this all down with the grape soda which is very much recommended and hits the spot. I was gutted to see the banana muffin skillet dish (I can't remember the exact name) had dissapeared from the menu but the churros were a worthy substitute. I would say that the churros should come with a spoon so none of the rich chocolate sauce goes to waste. Overall a great experience. One improvement would be to accept Amex for payment. American themed restaurants not accepting amex is a tad ironic!

When you first walk in you are greeted by a member of staff and supposedly allocated to your table however this was not the case. Despite reserving a table and arriving on time a table was not available upon arrival and we were forced to go to a bar and wait there for extra 15-20 minutes. This was quite unpleasant as many people were watching football shouting in that area. After we sat down we were introduced to our waiter and were given complimentary water and sweet popcorn. The food we ordered the platter and Mac and cheese and it was delivered fast as expected with this type of food. The meat was well seasoned and was coming easily off the bone however the Mac and cheese had a weird sour after taste which was not so good. Overall good atmosphere and good food but the reason for 3 stars is the forced tip which is already included in your bill.- yes you can ask the staff to take it off but it is a disgusting gesture especially in a country where fair wage is being given. Not good.
