Jalalabad Akbari Cuisine — Restaurant in England

We frequently visit this restaurant as a family, living in hereford ourselves there are many Indian restaurants to choose from, but growing up eating Indian food, and knowing what quality is after all this time, unfortunately all the restaurants in hereford fail to deliver time after time. However, the 20 minute drive into Leominster to visit the Jalalabad is worth the drive Every, Single, Time. We visited tonight, and the restaurant was absolutely HEAVING. I must admit, working as a chef for the past 9 years, perhaps, they had put a bit too much on themselves in terms of numbers. But they handled it magnificently. And with approximately 50-60 covers in a very short space of time the quality of the food did not alter whatsoever. A very enjoyable night. And it’s so rare to find a place to eat, to have a night off cooking and have a similar quality to that at home.

Food is okay (LIE) we have been going here for a while. But suddenly price has gone through the roof (NO IT HASN’T) they don't like card payments anymore (YES THEY DO) and the bill receipt is hand written on paper with not understanding of what is written on it (YES, ITS HAND WRITTEN AND PERFECTLY LEGIBLE) Very strange Unfortunately we will not be coming back (GOOD)!!!.

placed order on the phone, was told food would be ready to collect in one hour. We Arrived perfectly on time as advised, went in and paid for our order. Was asked what car I was in and asked to go wait in the car and food would be brought out. Okay, fair enough.

35 mins later and still no food. Decided to go to the Chinese next door for a portion of chips whilst waiting as got so fed up. Ate the chips in the car whilst waiting. Chips gone. Still no order. Went to ask about status of our order and got zero helpful feedback. Nice. Ten mins later the food came out, with nothing more than a “sorry for the wait”.

Definitely never going again. Had I been originally told the food would be two hours, I’d have had no problem. The fact that I was lied to, amongst other customers having the exact same experience at the same time, given no update or apology whilst they knew several customers were outside waiting, was terrible and frankly ...

Use this restaurant a lot as the food is so good. However, Sunday 19th June, it all went horribly wrong. Ordered a takeaway by phone & was told 45 minutes wait. Left home 30 minutes later as it takes 15 minutes to get there. Was told food was "not quite ready". Paid and sat down to wait. I know it was Father's Day and the restaurant was quite full, but then had to wait 1 HOUR for our order! Kept being told that food would soon be ready, but that they were busy & short staffed. Got offered a free drink after 50 minutes of waiting and profuse apologies when food finally arrived. Really guys, just not good enough, if you are that busy AND short-staffed, maybe it would be better to explain the TRUE waiting time when people ring, or just not take orders for takeaway. Food was as good as usual, but this could lose you loyal customers. Hate complaining, but this really...
