Kings Arms Hotel — Restaurant in England

We were booked to stay in the next door hotel called Copper Kettle however we were early for our check in time which is at 2 pm. Our reason was that we were attending a wedding at the nearby church and was hoping to be able to check in early. The hotel we were booked in was not able to accommodate due to the fact they were not in. While we were by the hotel a lady next door from the Kings arms hotel named Helen was very kind and gracious to offer one of the cottages that she just recently cleaned for us to get changed to give us enough time to prepare for the wedding event.She said she knows the owners and they are friends. She wants to help out. With respect we also did our best to keep the room clean and tidy. We were there by almost 2 hours. We will never forget that kindness and the least we could do is give this commendation for this wonderful act of kindness. We plan to go back to Kirkby for a short holiday and we will certainly consider booking at King arms. Had a meal here today wouldn't return for several reasons. Got some drinks and a table then to be told no pies left, no chicken (apart from 1) got our meals No butter with Ploughman's just marg (isn't as advertised) says butter. No apple as advertised! Says Honey roast ham was just thin packet ham! Wasn't the best Ploughman's I've had. Hunters chicken had no cheese on it (advertised had melted cheese on) hubby's meal should have come with baby carrots and it didn't. We asked then they brought some as he was almost finished they clearly just microwaved some quickly as they were hard !

Then neither the landlord or lady who served us said enjoy your meals or came over to ask if everything was OK. Had to ask for sauces (they were clearly cheap and no branded as didn't taste very nice) just no attention to detail what so ever. It was not busy we were only table/people in there!

We hosted our wedding welcome drinks at the King's in August 2025. This was a private event for roughly 40 people including food and drinks.

From start to finish our experience was excellent, CJ and the team could not do enough for us. From the beginning the communication with the office staff was professional and timely (which I can't say about all the locations we contacted) and they were very informative in answering our questions about the event space, food, private hire etc.

We met with CJ and the team to arrange the custom food order which on the night was exactly what we had hoped for.

They even decorated the event space for us and supplied a wedding guest book which was such a beautiful touch.
