Booking was made for B&B accommodation for 2 nights. Arrived to be told that breakfast is not available due to staffing??? 🙁 (Does this make this just a B instead of a B&B?) Checked in to find my room was not ready, told that a member of staff had been staying in it. Staff member advised that if not ready in time, I would be staying in the conference room?? 🫤 Booking was made on my behalf, so I was surprised to be asked to pay. Staff advised that payment details were taken to secure the room only. He agreed that this should be made clearer when booking. Finally, I made it to my room to find a bed, wardrobe, sink, and side unit. There us a tea and coffee tray and also 3 tins of cider?? The bathroom is separate, with a bath/shower available. Something that I was not aware of when booking. Didn't really enjoy listening to others using the vathrokm! The bedroom has a firm mattress on a double. (I prefer a softer personally) The room has a painted wooden floor, and some floor boards are loose and move when moving over them. They aren't particularly clean either. The window is cracked and blinds damaged so they don't fully close. Curtains bearly cover window. The window frame inside is showing signs of decay. The exterior is currently being painted, so has scaffolding up around the exterior. (Didn't appreciate being woken up by people outside my window!) Disappointed that there is no TV available in the room and free WiFi is touch and go (states connected with no access most of the time) The sink has running hot and cold water. the only issue is that the hot tap is not secure. The bathroom has an extremely poor choice of door lock, which doesn't seem enough and overall decorated OK. The window is cracked and just seems unfinished in places, (Door frame and around the window) needing finishing touches. Bedroom and bathroom seem to be more like staff accommodation, rather than something for external customers to use/pay for. Upon checking in, I was advised that parking was available around the back. The access to this is almost impossible, and once inside the courtyard area, I found a dirty, unkempt area with very little space. My room is directly above the bar, so I am able to hear almost everything, but despite this, I have been able to sleep as it quietens down quickly. Have been awoken to an alarm. Started at 2:30am. Unable to sleep through it. Unsure if this is this on site or elsewhere? No contact information or emergency numbers are visible. Unsure what to do as i can't seem to find anyone on site to advise/assist??? I gave walked the entire landing, shouting and knocking doors to no avail. Even called police and they advised me to find a member of staff as nothing could be done. Lasted 1.5 hours. 😔😪😴 The location of the site is probably the best thing, central in the area. Overall, I am extremely disappointed and tired, not at all impressed, and won't return.
Called today to speak with the manager/owner (Kev) regarding my issues. He was extremely defensive and would not let me talk and hung up on me?! I tried calling more times to no answer. I have emailed the site booking person (Claire, i believe) today to hopefully...
Read moreI recently had the misfortune of dining at a restaurant that left a sour taste in my mouth, both figuratively and literally. Let me recount my disastrous experience at this establishment, which I'll refer to as "Unfortunate Eatery."
Firstly, my party and I decided to book a table at Unfortunate Eatery for 19:30. We were relieved when we received a confirmation email, thinking that our evening was set to be a pleasant one. Little did we know that we were about to be subjected to a series of disappointments.
Upon our arrival at the restaurant, we were greeted by a member of staff who bore an uncanny resemblance to Bill Oddie. Now, I have nothing against the beloved naturalist, but this individual seemed to channel his rudest demeanor. Without even a trace of politeness or apology, this "Bill Oddie doppelgänger" informed us that our table was unavailable because they had overbooked.
Naturally, we were dumbfounded by this revelation. How could a supposedly professional establishment mishandle their reservations so poorly? It's not rocket science to manage a reservation system, but apparently, it was too much for the staff at Unfortunate Eatery. And to add insult to injury, there wasn't a shred of remorse in the staff member's tone or expression.
We were left standing there, like lost souls, contemplating our options. The staff member made no effort to rectify the situation or offer any form of compensation for their mistake. It was as if our presence inconvenienced them, and they couldn't be bothered to care.
Needless to say, our evening was ruined. We had looked forward to enjoying a pleasant meal together, but instead, we were left feeling disheartened and insulted by the apathy and rudeness we encountered.
To make matters worse, as we were leaving, we noticed other diners being seated promptly, further emphasizing the inconsistency and lack of professionalism at Unfortunate Eatery. Clearly, our experience was not an isolated incident.
In conclusion, if you're considering dining at Unfortunate Eatery, I strongly advise against it. The combination of overbooking and the presence of a rude staff member who resembled Bill Oddie is a recipe for disappointment. Save yourself the trouble and find a restaurant where you'll be treated with respect and where your reservation actually...
