Having read the reviews on here and elsewhere before visiting I decided to take a look myself. We visited on a Sunday lunch where it's the most expensive... There's plenty of food on offer and all of it seemed fresh and hot. A few dishes were constantly empty (Roast Duck) which was annoying but not the end of the world. Most of the food I tried today was of reasonable quality for a buffet but I did find some dishes, the Lemon Chicken for example, where the texture of the meat was questionable... I also found the duck used for the pancakes rather bland even with all the sauces. But those bits aside, the majority of the food and meats were tasty enough. There was also a wide range of desserts on offer so do save room for these at the end! Like most buffets, drinks are not included in the price. Would I go again? Yes! But NOT on a Sunday and probably for a lunch as it's cheaper then making it far better value.

One thing’s for sure, if I had to make a choice to eat at Kung Fu based on most of the reviews here, I may never have gone there and would have missed out on what was offered. My favourite bit: The variety, definitely a lot of value for money ⚖️💰😁 It was not fine dining, so if you don’t expect that, you should be fine. However, it was still generally decent for a buffet at that price and there was a lot to skip to if I didn’t particularly like what I had just dished out for myself. The dishes available spun a rather wide spectrum of palettes so it’s a great place for a group with different tastes in food texture, flavours, spice levels, etc My worst bit: The long queue!! (Hint: book the day before) 🤦🏾‍♀️ Average Cost: £15 per head (without drinks) Service: Plausible but not exceptional Ambience: Cosy; Oriental

Far better than I thought it was going to be. Very friendly manager explained everything as my first time. Pay up front for food and bar, no problem. Overall the food was way better than most takeaways I have tried in UK. I have been to many giant Chinese buffets in the US and this was good for choice. Whole salt & pepper prawns, pork shumai, crispy chilli chicken were my favourites. I was in a veggie mood but mixed veggies was all celery. Manager was monitoring steam tables keeping food moved around. Didn’t seem very busy on a Thursday night and they started closing down at 8pm. Overall a really good value for £17. Very happy tummy afterwards.

Kungfu Newbury. What can I say apart from spot-on.

Id read the reviews, seen the mass queues and decided that the ratio of bad reviews to the amount of people still going in was worth the visit. And it was well worth the 39 pounds paid for the two of us.

Whats the best way of doing it ? I found out that getting a plate, running round looking at what they have, trying to decide, placing food on plate, still looking, placing more food on plate, going to table and eating isnt the best way as "Yes" some of the food begins to cool.

The second time I went straight to what I wanted, piled up the plate and then went back to eat piping hot food. Also before getting food get yourself settled, coats off, get the drinks and then go look round and see what you want. Then get a plate and start piling up, then get back to table and enjoy.

Kungfu Newbury. Dont lose what you're doing now, keep up the great work and you will constantly get repeat customers. I know I will be going back again. My partner has even said she wants to try the takeaway service as well.

Also last comment. Dont go on a friday, saturday or sunday night which will get busy. We went on a tuesday and was just out of this world.

Update. Dont go for the takeaway. 5.99 at night for one tub. If you get a proper chinese takeaway curry you get two tubs, one for rice and one for the curry. And why does it cost one pound at night than during the day ? Come on kungfu. Give two plastic tubs min for...

Sunday lunch here today. Thought wed chance it as driven in from Oxford for an event and had a hungry teen on board. Lots of empty trays. Food cold. Service from most of the staff awful. Guy supposedly seating us took his time at the til to the point where the lady, who I assume is the manager, snatched the drinks menus from him and seated us herself. Then proceeded to shout at him loudly in front of everyone. Partner asked same guy if the gyoza would be replenished as those out (2) were dry and hard. He put his head in the kitchen. Nope. Partner approaches lady manager... she goes off into the kitchen again shouting. I understand her frustration.. shes doing her best but seems to have very fed up, nonchalant staff. Hot as hell in there despite huge air conditioning units which did not appear to be on. The fumes from the open kitchen doors were overpowering to the point where my partner had to go outside. Teen left most of the food and said there was no way she was eating it. Home now for a few hours and partner has had the most awful upset stomach. Teen has gone to bed. Touch wood it hasn't gotten me yet! We obviously will not be...

We have been to this restaurant several times and each time we have noticed it going down hill. We visited around 6.30pm on a wendnesday and was greeted by a young girl who couldn’t even manage a smile, then was led to a table right next to the window that was in full view of all passers by, we asked if we could sit somewhere else as there was loads of empty tables, the man bluntly said no you can’t. We then proceeded to choose our food, a lot of the trays was not marked with its contents, the food was barely warm, I then went to choose dessert which again was disappointing, Eton mess was just cream with a tiny bit of meringue, the chocolate fountain dips had already been dipped in the chocolate by children and put back on the plates and then the usual little pots of jelly. Baring in mind the restaurant had only been open for a maximum of one hour and barely had any customers in it.....not good. We also noticed how dirty the window seals and bottoms of the tables were, these couldn’t have been cleaned for weeks. I have written to the manager twice and have not received any response so felt I had to leave...
